Excellent service over the phone solved my issue quickly

I have always been satisfied with any interaction with Trupanion.

I have had dealings with Trupanion before because Sophie and I was totally satisfied with Trupanion's service.

Five Star service

I would not recommend Trupanion insurance to anyone. In September my cat had been losing weight. notes from the pet clinic: • 9/12/2018 : Per O [owner], P [patient] has access to plenty of food and seems to eat it, but has lost weight despite. Noting increased frequency of vomiting, is less on canned food. Assessment: Weight loss (8.8 lbs in 2015, 6.89 lbs today). Discussed weight loss and vomiting. Discussed common diseases in cats that cause these signs- hyperthyroid, diabetes, kidney, etc and recommended screening BW [blood work]. If BW normal, possibility for abdominal ultrasound to assess GI tract disease, etc. • 9/13/2018: Thyroid in the grey zone. Otherwise relatively normal. Left message for owner. • 9/18/2018: Will monitor for now and is aware of recommended next steps. O can bring p in to weight check in 1-2 months to ensure no further weight loss. About 2 weeks after her last office visit I felt a bump on the side of her body. Not knowing what was going on with my cat I initiated health coverage to cover any future costs. I also knew I needed to wait 30 days before she could be seen before any costs would be covered so I set an appointment 30 days after i initiated coverage. My claims were denied because they believed the information from the September visits were evidence enough to say my cat had cancer (even though even the office staff and doctor did not draw that conclusion). Regardless of the claims being denied what I find unacceptable is the lack of information required for decision making. Let me be more specific. Had I known that my cat's symptoms would be considered contributors to cancer (and I repeat, the doctors and office staff did not mention this was the case) and would not be covered, I would never have initiated pet health care coverage in the first place. The agent on the phone told me the coverage covers all manner of options which is a vague hypothetical, I only submitted for these specific items. I requested a refund of the 204.6 in premiums I paid because with more information I would have never requested coverage in the first place. So, in the end, I have my pets final medical bills, and the premiums I paid for health care coverage I did not receive. Congrats Trupanion, you earned 204.6 for covering absolutely nothing. Sure your administrative staff needed to be paid for their time in review records. Id estimate 3 hours to review at $18 per hour. So I would settle for 150.6 in a refund of premiums paid.
