Highway Robbery

On August 13, I took an Accident/ Illness policy out for my new puppy, Penguin. On February 10 she was taken to the Veterinary Hospital at the University of Montreal in St. Hyacinthe Q.C. After a day of diagnostic tests and evaluations, Penguin was scheduled for surgery on February 12. She was released after a bill of $4205.64 was paid. Finally, after submitting the claim to Pets Plus Us, several times, I received an email from the company which stated the amount of $0.00 was payable. I spent a VERY long time on the phone with a representative and listening to awful music. It was just like talking to the wall. Shame on Costco for supporting such a scam!

Theives

I purchased this purebred, registered Manchester Terrier from a reputable breeder in New Brunswick mid- July. I investigated PetsPlusUs at Costco when I returned to Ottawa. I paid for accident and illness insurance and registered Penguin through my vet inManotick in the fall. On February 10 I travelled to The University of Montreal Veterinarian Hospital to have the pup assessed. She had several diagnostic tests, a surgery, a tooth extraction and an evaluation of a cardiac condition. After sending in all the to this company SEVERAL times, I received a cheque for $0.00 for a bill of $4,204.65. This insurance company is fraudulent and I am sickened that a company like Costco would represent them.

Seems like a scam to me.

we called to get insurance for our 2 retrievers- with breeding coverage for the female. Ofcourse no discounts applies if we want this. They said we needed to get breeding riders for both otherwise the male dog will not be covered for testicular or prostate cancer. Shouldn't that mean then that all dogs would need to get breeding rider whether they are for breeding or not? But they claim that the rider is not needed for all pets, even though Retrievers run a high risk of testicular cancer- neutered or not. They said that if I don't get the breeding rider for the male dog as well, they will not cover testicular or prostate cancer. Ridiculous. Sadly they are one of a very few companies that offer breeding coverage at all. Then when we asked them to roll over our current insurance policy to the better one or cancel the current one right away to start the better policy.. they wont until 10 days from now and then they will start the waiting period only after that. Just very poor customer service! I don't blame the agent/rep. He seemed to be doing what he was asked to do! The whole company and their policies seems flawed! I wonder if they will even honour any claim in the end. They seemed so focussed on the exclusions! Ive asked to speak with a manager or underwriter... will see what happens. Just doesn't make any logical sense.
