Very unprofessional

This insurance is a waste of money. The monthly rate is fairly high compared to other insurances. They don't cover dental. My puppy had a lesion that required an FNA with subsequent biopsy. Since the lesion was there before the insurance was in effect I expected the claim to be denied as pre existing. What I find outrageous is that the insurance excluded all and I mean ALL skin conditions now for her. That is highly unprofessional, because they should only exclude THIS one condition that she has and not EVERYTHING. So, beware of this insurance. I have been sending everyone who was asking for recommendations away from this one. I will cancel first chance I get and my second puppy will be insured elsewhere from day 1. Do your research, please - I did not do a good job because I was in a rush and am now stuck with this plan.

Constant Deniel of Coverage

PetsPlusUs (Northbridge Insurance) is terrible. My dog has had insurance since I adopted him in 2010. When we moved to Canada a couple of years ago, we found what we thought was a good insurance company. We made sure there was not lapse in coverage. Generally, our dog was healthy but had a rare stomach ailment (not genetic, not contagious and not repetitive). He also had heartworm when he was a puppy but it never came back. When enrolled with Pets Plus Us, they seemed to very helpful. After a delayed application process (on their end), they provided a list of policy exclusions, including the overly broad term of "any stomach" issues. 358 days later, our dog had diarrhea. With only 7 days before the exclusion period was to end and an unrelated stomach ailment from the original virus (as mentioned above), PPU denied the claim and the later follow-up claim. After many discussions and a letter from the Vet stating the two issues could not be related, they removed exclusion. Almost 4 weeks later, they still haven't paid us...and claim they are processing it. Recently, we found a tick on our little fella. First one ever. We called the vet and they wanted the tick tested. We brought the tick over to the doctor's office. PPU did not cover the test citing that it was "elective". Again our Vet wrote a letter stating that ticks need to be tested for Lyme Disease. They declined the appeal again citing it was "elective" and lumping it into the category with "ear cropping, debarking, nail trimming, nasal and skin folds, cosmetic surgery." Interestingly enough, if the test came back positive, they would have covered it because it would have been necessary. Does that even make sense? They want the money but don't want to pay claims. We have spent over 5 hours on these issues and still can not get any satisfaction. They suck and wish I had my US coverage back.

Claim for TPLO SURGERY [ ACL TEAR IN LAYMEN TERMS ]

The policy is reasonable and the representatives are easy to reach and knowledgeable. The coverage is good and like everything their are some anomalies that can cause you grief but overall the insurance is peace of mind and covers a good portion of your expense. The paper process is not overly clumsy and nothing you wouldn’t expect from any reputable firm.

They have have been very reliable throughout the years.

We purchased Shultz's pet insurance when he was young and healthy. He is now 10 and has some difficulties. His pet insurance has always come through for us. Every pet owner should have insurance for their babies, there will likely be a time you will need it.

This pet insurance has served us well over the years, I would recommend it to any pet owner

We've had no problems with our claims. Buying pet insurance was one of the best choices we made for our fur baby. We bought it when he was young and he's now 10. I would recommend it to any pet owner
