We were introduces to Pets Plus Us in a puppy package we got from our vet with his first visit. Free 6 week trial, which we used, signed up and have unfortunately used them quite a bit. At 7 months old had a $4000.00 shoulder surgery. The company offered to have the specialist apply for their portion of the cost so we wouldn't be out of pocket and would only have to pay our part. I was blown away that they would do this! We have never had any issues with our claims and feel that they pay in a very reasonable amount of time. I would recommend this company to anyone with a pet. Vet bills are expensive.

Terrible
They wouldn't cover a root canal for my dog'show broken tooth. They would only cover extraction. I didn't want her to be painful but the consulting vet didn't seem to care at all. I cancelled my policy. I would never recommend this company. "Champions of pet owner happiness" pffft, yeah right.

So Glad We Got Insurance With This Company!!!
We have a female Labrador retriever that just turned 1 yr old, and we have had to take her in to the vet numerous times during her first year of life! I was reluctant to get insurance since she was just a puppy, so I thought, what could go wrong, but my husband really wanted it just to have peace of mind in case something happened. Nearly one year later, I have to say I am so glad that we got it!!! We have had to bring her in for: a recurrent urinary tract infection, an accident with another dog that left her limping really badly so she needed X-rays, an eye infection, and pneumonia!!! Never thought that a pup could run into so many issues in her first year!!! In total it would have all cost us $3000 for the numerous visits, X-rays, tests and medications. Pets Plus Us has paid for all of it at 90% with no issues, no questions asked! Only with her recurrent bladder infection, we had to explain some expenses, but once discussed with a rep, it was cleared up and covered. We do have to wait about 3 weeks or so for reimbursement but I usually pay by credit card, so by the time the bill is due, the cheque arrives in time!I would definitely recommend using this company for your pet. If you are debating whether or not to get insurance for your pet, my advice is to definitely get it!!! Never imagined I would need to visit the vet so often in the first year of having a pup! With each visit with tests and meds costing around $700, so worth it to have insurance and pay the affordable premiums and have no worries if something happens!

Extremely Long Reimbursement Times
Have had no problems, I've liked dealing with the company, they've covered all problems and been a stress reliever when it comes to getting good care for my pet. However I was just told to expect a 15-20 business day turnaround for a claim to be processed, which is ridiculous. Especially when other large competitors offer direct billing so you are never out of pocket. Would likely not insure another animal under this company for this reason.

Disappointing
I bought accident insurance for my 4 month old kitten. The poor kitten fell from the ground floor to the basement. He could not stand on his left hind leg, blood was coming out of his nose and he was in pain. We rushed him to the vet ER. Because the vet report says his presentation was "limping", Pets Plus Us denied the claim saying that it is not obvious it was an accident. Really!? Save yourself some grief and your business elsewhere. They do not deal in good faith. Do not insure with Pets plus Us.
