Do not use this company

Don't use Petsplusus, super slow and refused to pay. My dog is a golden retriever girl, this year, I took her to a pet clinic in my city to give her a full check, they said my dog is very healthy and they would like to offer me a free trail for a pet insurance which is Petsplusus (the insurance free trail only offers to the pet who is healthy after the examination). And then after around 20 days, my dog had diarrhea and ear infection when I took her to the clinic, afterwards they send all her results and records to Petsplusus, I have waited two months and I only got there information submission Emails, I had asked the animal clinic to send them another two times after the first time. After that, another 20 days past, they just disappeared, I have to call them to ask what happened to the claim, they told me the claim was declined, and they refuse to pay because my dog has previous skin issues (which I have never be told by doctors). Even skin issue did happen, how could a skin issue effects her tummy and ear?! I won't go any further with this insurance company, it makes me feel the worst! And the customer service was bad, she was really rude when she telling me the result, and when I said I do not think this is right, could you explain more, she said if you don't like the decision we made, you can apply for a review, they will contact you (I believe they will never do). I don't want myself to go through all these again, and I don't want anybody else to get the same result like me!

Save your money instead

My dog ingested something that cause her to vomit, have diarrhea and drool excessively all in the space of a couple hours. Took her to the emergency vet where problem was indicated as gastroenteritis- possible toxin. She received treatment and after a few hours were sent home two medication. Total bill was $718. Vet submitted claim but PetsPlus claim they did not receive it so spend time running around to get copies of report, scan and email. When I received the results of my claim, they said condition was excluded from coverage. My dog is only one year old and over the eight month period that we were covered by PetsPlus we paid $512 in premiums. I could have saved that money and also avoid the hassle. My health insurer Sunlife is easier to deal with than these guys. I am sure some owners with pets having catastrophic illness value the coverage but for most people I don't think it is worthwhile. Best just to open a special account and put aside some money for vet care.

Superior customer service and handling

Firstly, we were very impressed with the structure of the coverage: age divided into 3 groups only, 4 clear plans, 3 deductible coverage choices - this was not complicated like other plans. We insured both our dogs. Second, our 1st claim was handled with compassion, professionalism and efficiency. While investigating our dog's torn cruciate replacement, 3 further major issues surfaced including a left nephrectomy, adrenalectomy and cystotomy, all needing to be done immediately. PetsPlusUs underwriters worked diligently and quickly to advise on exclusions and inclusions so we could move forward fast. Immediately upon receiving pathology results, they mailed reimbursement cheques and Melissa went through the details clearly and concisely by phone with us. For your info: we only paid 35% of all fees. We were not out of pocket for long and came away with a most satisfactory experience. The cruciate ligament surgery is next and they've already committed to full coverage. We recommend this company highly for their empathy, efficiency, competence and reaction time. Calls were always returned promptly, and with answers. This is the way to conduct business. Ten out of 10, for sure. Rose Nadon and Murray Clifford, British Columbia

Great service all around. My kitten is back to her hyper self and my claim was paid in under a week. So happy I got insurance for my new little buddy. Owl was only home for a few days after I adopted her when she became very sick. She had a gift insurance from the shelter she was adopted from and I'm so thankful she did. Two nights nights in the emergency hospital was very expensive. I have since bought an extended policy and am now a believer in the benefit of insurance. I never want to worry about being able to care for her again. Thanks for being there for us!

Super helpful, responsive, fast processing time

I have a 5-year-old male Shih Tzu, cute as a button. It was time for his blood test, heart guard, and vaccinations. I was a student so it was always hard to save the money for his needs. Now, I have good job but I wanted to increase my cash flow. I researched many companies and Pet insurance was the best for cost. Why pay for it in a lump sum when I can do it monthly @ 0% interest? I bought my little guy to the vet, got all his stuff done and the vet actually submitted the claim via fax I believe. It took about 10 business days for the money to be in my bank account. during that time, I emailed the support group because I have a few questions. They go back to me in about 24 hours and was very helpful. I would highly recommend pet insurance for everyone!
