new underwriter= sky high policy rates
We've been with Pet's Best for 5 years and just received an email about our upcoming renewal. They changed underwriters and the same policy that we paid a little over $300 for last year is now going to be over $750. Not cool! We've been loyal customers and haven't had many claims. This past year, my dog was hospitalized for seizures and they paid out over $700 which is good but I have a feeling that's why the insurance went up. The past claims were never for more than $300 (and there were only 2 or 3 of those). They'll never admit to that of course. She's on meds for the seizures and hasn't had another one in months. PetPlan is cheaper. They won't cover preexisting conditions but we're not worried about the seizures. Pets Best also won't transfer the policy to my mom which is bull (I lived with my mom when I got my dog and when I moved, my mom kept her. It was the best thing for my dog). It's the same address that my dog has always lived at. It would just be changing it to my mom's name. I think they just want an excuse to cancel the policy. I found another insurance company who will transfer the policy if both parties give written ok for it. Pets Best might have just lost a customer. I will not be recommending them to anyone anymore.
