Excellent service

I have 2 senior cats covered by Pets Best Insurance. One of my cats was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. Meaning lots of visits to the vet and several blood tests. I'm so glad that I have Pets Best protection...claim process is very easy and you get your reimbursement in just a few days. I very much recommend Pets Best!!!

Pets Best provides superior service

I purchased pet insurance about four months ago for my dog because I thought it would be a smart decision even though there was no pressing need. My dog is only a year and half old and in great shape. Through the last few months I have only filed wellness claims for annual exams and shots and the experience has made me so happy of my decision. Pets Best insurance has handled all my claims incredibly fast with no unnecessary hassle. They have continually kept me in the know about my claim through e-mail, even though my claim only took two days to process. I would recommend them for anyone who wants the peace of mind of pet insurance and wants an insurance provider that is professional, speedy, and helpful. Also, the customer service over the phone is awesome, if case anyone has questions and would like to speak to someone.

Got me on theold "180 day clause".

Max my short haired tabby swallowed something that didn't agree with her. She spent two days at the Tufts animal hospital. She had IVs, oxygen booth and other assorted goodies. The bill ran about 1K. I thought my wife had filed the paper work, but I found it when getting the tax stuff ready. So Isent in the paper work...They processed it very quickly and disallowed the claim because it had been longer than 180 days past the treatment date. My fault. The good news is that after being with them for almost two years I had paid more to Pets Best than the claim. I'm leaving them and opening "Health Savings Accounts" for each of my three (two cats and a dog) animals. Morale of the story - Check your policy's limitations. Filing deadlines are not even mentioned on most of the pet insurance sites. More importantly - If you can leave the account alone, you might be better off with a savings account for your pets.

RETHINK Pets Best insurance policy

based on the fact that if the company feels you are too much of a risk they have the option of canceling your policy. Then you are out of luck since then most likely your pet will have preexisting conditions. This is one reason I chose to go with pet plan for my other two pets. They did pay quickly for my cat but unless you are familiar with vet costs the limits they offer per incident are too low and they have lifetime caps. I went with Pet Plan for my other two pets and am very pleased with them. No lifetime limits and has $20,000 year cap which refills each year.

Don't waste your time with this insurance

I would not recommend this company to you unless you need the most basic coverage and then it is a toss up if the premium would save you any money or not. Their own rep said it was not generally worth it. That should have clued me in about them, now with 20/20 hindsight. My experience: I took out a policy on our older dog just because she is precious to us and she is slowing down... I wanted to be able to take care of her if anything happened... Their "paperwork" and claim forms are all on line and you need to download them and read the long list of exclusions with a vet... before you give them a dime. Their web site says "we cover straight 80%" of accicents and of all claims after the deductible. I thought short of cancer or something serious that would sound like accidents etc. and meds. would be generally covered. Long and short of it... My dog slipped on loose rug while running on hardwood floors and got a limp that wouldn't go away. I thought oh great! I got this insurance just in the nick of time.... I can get her checked....Well, 3 xrays later and expensive meds I got a bill for $500... from my vet with a diagnosis of a "torn cruciate ligament." No worries ... I have this insurance that covers accidents and meds and I will only have to pay 80% after my deductible.... EXCEPT ---AND YOU GUESSED IT.... I NEEDED TO READ THROUGH TO THE NUMBER 16 IN THE EXCLUSIONS!!! Guess what is NOT covered by this great insurance company... 'Torn cruciate ligaments! " or at least du
