Responsive, thorough service

A completely unforeseeable, accidental event found our 10 month old standard poodle in the hospital for 2 days. Pets Best accepted the claim several days later, and paid it a few days after that.

price adjustment due to utilization

I have had this policy for my pets since 2008 and have had claims. Within the past year 2 if my dogs needed ACL repairs. One had 2 legs and the other had 1 leg. I had a fear that their policy would be cancelled or premium raised. I just got the renewal and it went up over $200. When I called and asked about it of course they said it was about age and demographics. At this rate i will be priced out of insurance very fast

I was skeptical but they came through

I got insurance a few months ago after someone on Facebook pet forum recommended it. I've nearly been bankrupt by vet bills before but insurance never seemed to cover much and didn't seem worth the high cost. Checked out Pets Best and their coverage was broad with few exclusions and even those could be overcome by a waiting period/doctor's certification. I got very affordable accident/illness coverage not knowing I would need it in a short time. One of my dogs had a stroke and collapsed and ultimately I had to let her go. We had been sent to a specialist and the cost was in the thousands. I was all ready to fight the Pets Best assuming they'd find a way out of paying. But I was wrong. They came through and paid everything the policy said they would. It took a load off of my mind in a very sad and stressful time. They also were able to pay the vet directly which was great and gave the vet a level of comfort so they could work with me on payment. Thumbs up and hearty thank you to Pets Best.

Always great

My Australian Cattle Dog manages to get himself into trouble a few times a year. I have one of the higher deductible plans with PetsBestbut have gotten my money's worth every year. They process claims amazingly fast. This last time (tummy trouble and esophagitis from eating something), I filed the claim late Wednesday and Friday morning my refund is already in my bank account, no questions asked.

Beware of Accidental Policy

In the past Pets Best was great about covering for "medical issues" that I had with my male dog, Chance. Also with an accidental issue when both my male and female pit bull terriers (terrors) decided to take some sinus medication and needed to have their stomachs pumped (my male can open doors). However my recent experience has been a negative one and I will no longer have my pets covered because I am very upset with the situation. My female dog, Chloe, who is 4 years of age, experienced an awful situation January 14th when my male jumped on her back. She yelped and started to walk wobbly for a few days and then within a week her hind legs were paralyzed. I immediately took her to a neurologist and after an MRI it was confirmed she had an "acute" herniated disc compressing her spine 80%. The surgeon reiterated how this was an acute and "traumatic" injury, however with an emergency hemi lamenectomy, Chloe would be able to walk again and had a high chance of recovery. 13 weeks later Chloe is walking again and doing well. 2 APPEALS LATER with letters from my vet and surgeon stating it was clearly from the accident...and Pets Best is still not going to cover any of my claims of which totaed around $8,000 because they are claiming this was not accidental and that she has intervetebral disc disease (IVDD). Dogs known to have IVDD are dashounds, basset hounds, beagles and Shit Tzu. Not a pit bull/bull terrior mix at 4 years old. Prior to this incident Chloe was running, jumping, man
