Has your puppy ever had diarrhea?
Has your puppy ever had diarrhea? Heaven forbid that it has had it (once) before purchasing pet insurance from PetsBest. We purchased (10/9/17) pet insurance 6 weeks after getting our first dog (11/29/17-seems like a pretty reasonable time to acquire it) and filed our first claim with PetsBest after bringing our dog in for diarrhea for a second time (1/12/18), once prior to having PetsBest. They applied that visit toward our $200 deductible so they didn't technically have to reimburse us for anything yet. We then brought her in for the 3rd time for diarrhea on July 23 (7/23/18), roughly 6 months later. We submitted the claim and were denied as it was deemed a "pre-existing condition." A few things are wrong with that: 1. Diarrhea is a symptom, not a condition. 2. No vet has ever diagnosed her with Chronic Diarrhea. 3. Their policy defined a Chronic Condition as one that cannot be cured but only treated and managed- which Layla's diarrhea has since been cured and is defecating perfectly fine and has been for quite some time. Moral of the story...PetsBest is GREAT until you are actually benefiting from pet insurance. If you have EVER been to the vet before purchasing insurance, beware, because they will find any way possible to tie those previous vet visits to "pre-existing" conditions in order to avoid having to reimburse you. They will gladly take your premium payments, but be warned, they will fight you on paying out. They do have an appeals process, but that too, is a joke. PetsBest reviews PetsBest's decision and then if you make it to round 2 of their appeal, PetsBest sends your appeal to a "third-party" (that they contract) for another review. When questioned about possibly submitting the appeal to an independent third-party, they said that "this is how it is typically done" and couldn't provide further information. Its a joke. I cant wait to see the BS they spew in their response. *waits for the copy and pasted response, subbing pets name, from their customer service team*
IN REGARDS TO THEIR REPLY:
Looking at our Claims, exactly 2 claims mention anything in regards to gastro issues. All other mentions of gastro issues were essentially questions from the vet, wondering if her issues got better. None of those questions were billed or charged for but were simply conversations with our vet. All of the other referred to issues weren't anything that PetsBest was responsible for reimbursing for, but direction as to how to proceed from our vet and we were there for other issues and happened to have the conversation while we were already there for unrelated issues, again, not adding to any other expenses incurred by PetsBest. There is no indication of the symptoms getting resolved because we haven't taken our healthy dog to the vet since. She was on medication (antibiotics) for 10 days following the first vet visit. Your argument would be valid if you had paid for any of those instances. Only once did we receive antibiotics (billed towards our deductible) and canned food (not covered by PetsBest) resulting in PetsBest denying all responsibility to reimburse us. Thanks for your reply but it doesnt fit in this situation.
