Pets Best | Pet Insurance Review

I love being a customer Of Pets Best! I have been a customer for nearly 8 years, since it was called ShelterCare, and I'm highly satisfied! The process is always super easy and the policies are very easy to understand. Plus the policies are customizable, allowing me to save money where I could. Definitely are for all my friends to Pets Best!

This was my first claim under my new, expanded coverage. I was surprised and pleased at how easy it was.

Company does not fully disclose the fact coinsurance is charged before deductible is fulfilled. Over the last year there have been three claims that coinsurance was charged in addition to the deductible. If this process had been clearly communicated in pre sale marketing material, this policy would have not been purchased. This process only increases policy owners out of pocket expense before the deductible is fulfilled.

Started my contract with them on August 16 2018. You have to wait 14 days to take your pet to the vet to be covered (understandable). I took my dog to the vet September 6 2018 because he wasn’t eating. The veterinarian asked me how long has he been like this ? I said ABOUT a week. So pets best denied my claim saying his illness is preexisting because he was sick with in the 14 days. Now if you do the math.. August 16 to the 29th is 14 days I took him to the vet September 6. Now even if on the 6 I said he was sick for ABOUT a week, that is still after the 14 days because from the 6 back to the 31st of August Is 7 days,one week. Two days after the 14 days. I called and explained that to pets eat and they still denied my claim.

I signed up because it looked like a good deal and my cat needed her shots, regular wellness checkup and teeth cleaning. I also signed up for the Best Wellness Plan and then found out when I took her in for her regular exam that I only got the Essential. That still covered her wellness exam and shots....I THOUGHT. So I submitted that claim then upgraded to the Best so I could get her teeth done too. Then to my dismay the claim came back denied. They said I canceled my policy. Thbe refused to answer my contacts three times. I told them to cencel my policy and they ignored that until I wrote back and threat4ned to chargeback with the bank. Only then did htey cancel. They didn't even TRY to make things right. Waste of money, don't do it.
