Extremely Disappointed!
I would have never anticipated writing a negative review for Pets Best Insurance. When I first got my policy for my English Mastiff, the annual fee was $476.16 (2016-2017). Mines was a modest policy - $200 deductible, 80% reimbursement, and $5000 annual coverage. The first year was a rough year for my dog and I took that policy right up to the $5000 annual coverage. The service during that first year was so phenomenal that I wrote a fabulous review for Pets Best and continued the accolades by suggesting this pet insurance to anyone who would listen. The next year, the policy went up to $631.23 (2017-2018). I assumed such a large jump was due to the amount I had claimed, but was told that was not the case. The representative was extremely nice and explained the process. She stated that during the puppy stage, the policy is normally higher and once he passes the puppy stage, the cost will decrease to be followed by an increase when he becomes a senior and his health is anticipated to decline. I was fine with this explanation because it made sense. The next year, my policy went down to $607.94 - just as the rep had predicted (2018-2019). Imagine my surprise when I received my most recent policy renewal to a tune of $1003.71 (2019-2020). When I called to get an explanation, the responses were just not acceptable. The dog is 3 years old and in great shape (that is past the puppy stage, right?). BTW, we filed no claims because there were no emergencies or big ticket items that required action. So, "zero claims" for the policy period 2018-2019 and the reward is a policy increase of $395.77. Thanks Pets Best! Just don't buy the reasoning of he is still in his puppy stage where he is curious and still getting into things - when he is between the ages of 4-6 the rates will go down - after age 6 the rates will go up because he will be considered in his senior years. Oh, okay. Well, I have wasted enough money and time. Needless to say, this policy will not be renewed. This is so disappointing and sad at the same time. Makes me wonder what has happened to such a great company?
