VPI is really saving us!

I have nothing but good things to say about VPI. We had a different insurance when we first adopted our dog--a rescue who was 5. I switched to VPI because I had heard good things, and they have been fantastic. Chester had no care the first half of his life, and had a few medical issues when we first brought him home. Now, he is a senior, and with that, came arthritis, thyroid problems, and now heart problems. We have had some really big bills of late, and VPI has been reimbursing in a very timely manner, and covering quite a bit. It has paid for itself and then some. I am so thankful we have the cushion of knowing we have coverage!

Totally satisfied - because I did my homework

Without boring you with the details of our situation, we decided to get pet insurance after spending way too much on our dog's medical needs. Our dog had a surprise diagnosis with a price tag of about $6,000. I did my homework and knew that there was a set amount that VPI would pay for specific diagnoses; my husband did not. I was actually pleasantly surprised about how much we received to cover the costs (just over 50%); my husband was not impressed but that's because he didn't understand how the insurance works. Here's another pleasant surprise: you don't have to submit medical bills and get each bill individually reimbursed. About two weeks after diagnosis we just received the entire benefit from the insurance, even though we experienced the cost of the treatment over 5 months. That helped so much. We are thrilled with this service, even after some misunderstanding on my husband's part.

Well worth it

So far. So good. We also purchased the wellness rider for our 6 month old toy poodle which covered neutering, exams, heart worm and flea & tick meds. It has already paid for itself. The form was short and easy to fill out. I faxed it along with copy of the itemized Vet bill and was reimbursed in less than 3 weeks

Thank goodness for pet insurance

We have had VPI since our Aust Cattle Dog was 4 months and she is 3 yrs old now. After having 2 other dogs in the past who had significant illnesses that almost broke us, we bought pet insurance. Our ACD had to have extensive dental work last Fall and VPI paid everything but $700.00 for which we were grateful. Most recently, she swallowed a foreign body and reimbursement was for everything ($362.00) except for $40.00 which we didn't expect to begin with. Be sure to itemize on claims and read your policy. We are happy.
