DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

I have been with this company for a long time. It was just out of laziness, that I didn't change sooner. Their policies are so long and complicated, it is impossible to comprehend. I have only had to file a couple of small claims, and I was never happy with them. Recently, I had a larger claim, and I am very angry with them! I personally feel this company is a rip-off, and will find some reason or another, not to reimburse you what you deserve. I love the new company, I am with. I'm just sorry, that I didn't change sooner!

Hard to Deal With

I haven't been real happy with VPI pet insurance (now Nationwide). I adopted a dog from a rescue shelter in December, 2005 and have had coverage with VPI continually until now. They denied a claim in 2015 for allergies that they contend was pre-existing because the dog had scabs on his back legs when I rescued him in 2005. Despite a letter from my Vet, they continue to deny and asked for nine years of records. In my opinion, they are being unreasonable and are attempting to overwhelm me with requests for records.

The best insurance ever!

Carly, my rescue mixed-terrier tore her ACL chasing a squirrel. After conservative treatment didn't work, she was referred to an orthopedic surgeon due to the complicated nature of the injury. She had the ACL repaired, a little metal added and after six months of careful, increased activity is doing very well. We are on a fixed income and without VPI insurance, I'm not sure how we would have managed. Customer service was professional and helpful and our claim was paid promptly.

VPI not all cracked up to be

I purchased VPI insurance when I first got my new purebred yorkshire terrier Sammy. In 2003 pet insurance was hard to find. I used them for about the first three years of his life. I found their policy to be complicated and the payouts were rare. I would not recommend VPI as an option for pet insurance. You end up paying most of the costs of annual exams, wellness visits and minor injuries yourself. At least that was my experience.
