Buyer Beware.

Terrible company. Buyer beware. I wasted $300 in premiums and they never reimbursed me for a single vet visit or service. Their tactic is to send letters that say that they need MORE info. from the vet to determine the repayment. They hassled my vet for months while I paid premiums to the tune of $40 a month for the "premium" plan. Finally, after seven months of this, they sent me a notice that my cat wasn't eligible for a single service reimbursement. When I cancelled over the phone, the person on the line was all too familiar with the policy and told me to expect a check or repayment for my monthly pre-paid deposit. Four days later I receive a letter that stated that they would need 30 days to "review" my cancellation. In other words, they want to mop up that month's premium payment too. I'm reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. Advice to those considering Nationwide: review the top rated pet insurers. They are nowhere near that list. I wish I had. I would have the $300 I wasted on this company to buy food and vet bills for my cat.

Eventually get paid

There is a significant amount of work I've had to do to get our claims paid. But they have eventually been paid. However, they had the wrong birthdate of our pet (despite having ever vet record she has) and have put holds on our claims without telling us. It took me 4 phone calls to discover that. Once I did, they were able to fix it. But it's been equivalent to a part-time job to keep on top of all of this. But -we have had a lot of claims so we're grateful for the financial help they provide.

great service

Nationwide Pet Insurance has been good to our dog Bindy especially in this last year when she has been diagnosed with an enlarged heart. I also appreciate that there is no need to file by regular mail, we can now file claims electronically. Also, anytime I have called Nationwide has been ready to answer my questions. I really recommend coverage, especially for senior dogs.

Worst Insurance Ever..Customer has to do all the work and hope it will be covered!

Recently I submitted two invoices .The first was on 12/4/17 and after approx 3 weeks I had to submit the vet records [after spending approx 20 min on the phone with Nationwide] and then I had to run around sending vet records. I called the next day .spent another 25 min on the phone to be sure that they were received. I was told they were and it could take an additional 30 days to process but to call or look on line in a few weeks. Now on Jan 2nd my puppy had another vet visit. Once again I had to call in a few days, another 20-25 minutes on the phone, and run around faxing the vet records Again I called a day later to make sure the newly faxed records were received and asked about the 12/4 invoice which I was told was still being processed! I spent several times. the 2nd and 3rd week of January checking the status of my two invoices on line with no avail . Now it was the almost the end of January.way past 30 days for the 1st invoice, I called and another 25-30 minutes this time. Finally during this last call and getting only lip service like "It is being processed and it should be available soon" I asked to speak to a supervisor, of course I had to wait for some time again and she told me ...get ready... that due to the holidays like MLK and New Years is why it has taken so long to be processed! She went on to state of course the 1st invoice, where the vet records had to faxed in, was also on 12/23 a few days before the Christmas holiday. Really?! it still had been over 30 days I responded. I then asked the supervisor if this was there standard for customer service? I was told yes! I was also told that my first invoices [for puppy shots etc..] were processed in just a few weeks. "Of course" i stated since there was no reimbursement because i hadn't met my delectable. The customer has to send in the invoice, call several times,.fax vet records and bend over and hope that it will be covered to try to obtain 90% reimbursement! All the while my 2 monthly insurance payments were taken from my checking account, regardless if there were holidays during those months! I wonder what I would have to go through if my dog wasn't a puppy and had real issues! I now tell everyone about the lousy customer experience and red tape by having this insurance that one has to endure!. In addition I believe it has been a complete RIP OFF . It costs me 63 dollars a month for 12 months[for a 3mth old pup] =$756.00 plus a $250.00 deductible now it is really costing 1,000 dollars [WHAT WAS I THINKING] before you even start!..my two invoices reimbursed me for a mere total of approx $320.00 which i waited almost 60 days from 12/4 when the 1st invoice was actually submitted! Its now my mission to tell everyone I know, especially at the vet's office, not to purchase this terrible product!!! I am quite sure i will not have spent 1,000 dollars on my puppy's health over the first year.
