I like the efficiency & no hassle of Nationwide, especially when I call & speak with their reps - the best!

Nationwide Pet Insurance is one the best things I did for my pet and me. Their claim process is efficient and has a fairly quick turnaround time. I especially appreciate their service reps - they are always professional, patient, kind and understanding. Two thumbs up, 5 gold stars and a big thank you! Rob and Beckett

Great coverage, great service

First off, let me say I am very happy that you have made the process of filing a claim so much easier. I use the Vitus app and love it. It's easy to use and the basics are populated with the info I had to add only the first time. When I do call, which is rare now with the app, customer service is friendly and helpful. Great job! With vets and animal hospitals getting bigger, more sophisticated and the demand getting larger, the price for healthcare for our pets has increased. I've been without pet insurance and have had to deal with huge bills with my previous dog. She had cancer which required multiple surgeries and checkups. It would have been nice to have had help at the time. In my opinion it is well worth having insurance for my boxer dog Rocco. When I adopted Rocco I researched quite a few different insurers and options and thought Nationwide had the best options for me. I do not regret my decision one bit.

Always satisfying

I’ve had VPI (then bought by Nationwide) since I first brought home my dog from the rescue agency. I’ve always been satisfied with their coverage and ease of use (submitting claims, reimbursement, etc). I’d highly recommend all pet owners to have pet insurance.

Monthly Cost

Policies start at approximately $12 per month.

Coverage

Nationwide offers a variety of plans offering varying levels of coverage. The company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness, offers 90% reimbursement for accident, injury, illness and wellness care, inclusive of exam fees. All Nationwide members have complimentary 24/7 access to vethelpline.

Payout Limits

Depending on the plan selected, there may be annual benefit limits or per incident benefit allowances. There is no annual limit for the company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness.

Deductible

Annual deductibles range from $0 to $1,000. Most popular annual deductible for Whole Pet with Wellness is $250.

Age Limits

No age restriction to enroll in company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness. Other plans may have age restrictions.

Waiting Period

14-day waiting period after application approved and payment of premium is received.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered on any plans (if a condition is curable, it may be eligible for review if pet remains treatment-free for at least six months). Whole Pet with Wellness covers nearly all veterinary expenses. Notable exclusions include boarding and grooming.
Since 1982, Nationwide has helped pet owners protect what matters most. As the largest provider of pet health insurance in the U.S., Nationwide currently insures over 600,000 dogs, cats, birds and exotic pets for medical conditions related to illnesses, injuries accidents and wellness care. In 2015, it introduced Whole Pet with Wellness, the only U.S. pet health insurance plan offering complete coverage for injuries, accidents, illnesses and wellness care. Policies range from nose-to-tail coverage to routine pet care plans that offer reimbursement for wellness exams and preventive treatments.
