Worth every penny!
I adopted a dog from a rescue shelter in May of 2017. Although I have been the owner of many pets over my life-time, I have never considered pet insurance. I joined Nationwide Pet Insurance In October of 2017 from the advice of one of the "dog moms" at the park I go to every day with my dog Ted. She spoke very highly of the ease of submitting a claim and the speed of reimbursement. I was hesitant over the $67/month premium but figured It would at least come in handy for a yearly teeth cleaning (so expensive!). Forward to December of 2017 (2 months later) my beloved dog Ted suddenly became severely ill. I took him to our vet on a Thursday when I first noticed he didn't want to get up in the morning to play with his dog friends. I took him back to the vet on Saturday as he still wasn't feeling better. By Sunday night (4 days later) he was completely blind. To make a very long, stressful, emotional, and financially draining story short, I had spent over $8400 on testing to save my dog-the best dog I've every had. He had to have multiple lab work, a spinal fluid test, MRI, urine tests, and lots of antibiotics and steroids. I have to say we are the recipients of a miracle as now, in February of 2018, my dog has regained his full health and Nationwide Insurance paid the 90% they had advertised when I first submitted my application! The stress of having a sick dog is overwhelming enough but the vet bills on top of that, knowing they are necessary but so grossly expensive adds to the tremendous burden of taking care of your pet and wanting to do everything possible to help them. My dog Ted will be 2 on May 6 the date I adopted him. I'm not sure I would have had the confidence to agree to all of the testing that helped him recover and regain his sight if I did not have Nationwide Pet Insurance. I am very grateful for this company and for their integrity in honoring my policy that was only 2 months old when this health catastrophe happened. I have since recommended Nationwide to all of my "pet moms and dads". I know at least 3 of them have signed up for Nationwide Insurance.
