Fast, hassle free claim process

I've had to use MetLife twice since I've adopted my cat - once an ER visit and now for a swollen lymph node that turned out to be moderate / severe periodontitis (not common at this young age). She had to have multiple visits, exams, and finally a (costly) dental procedure. I sent in the claims for vet and dentist with supporting docs and they paid it right away minus deductible & coinsurance - no hassle. Much better than my health insurance, I will say! I'm very satisfied.

Do not waste your Money on Metlife Pet insurance

Much like the reviews before me, i'm stuck in the same limbo that others have been in. I've filed a claim in Feb and I'm still getting the runaround. I've talked to over 5 agents with promises of notes and escalations with nothing coming from it. After a few weeks my claim was closed with a status that not enough info was provided. I have a puppy that doesn't have a long paper trail which for whatever reason they kept asking for. I finally talked to an agent who was able to tell me which doc in particular they needed and provided me with an email to send it to. The claim was reopened and after a month they finally put a closed status on the claim. (mind you they are suppose to solve these claims in 5 to 10 days) When i talked to yet another agent, they stated that it was closed because it was a duplicate of a prior one. It has been a nightmare to deal with these people, they will gladly take your insurance money but refuse to do any actual work when processing the claims. The agent stated that they would escalate to a claims supervisor and that it would take yet another 3 to 5 business days.. like wth.. Why does it take that long to escalate an issue, especially a simple one. What bothers me most is that i took my dog in for a simple ear infection and an upset stomach. It's not like i racked up 10000's of dollars in medical bills. If you want a piece of mind, stay far away from this insurance, you are more likely to discover the cure for Cancer then to get reimbursed by this horrible company.

Maybe I got lucky....

I was reading some of the previous reviews and was a little stunned to see how bad they were. I bought pet insurance for my dogs and was delighted to discover that they have a family plan at MetLife which is cheaper and it enables me to get unlimited coverage. We're always hoping we don't need insurance but I did. I had a $6,200 bill for Max and I thought this is going to take a while because it's a new insurance company for us they're going to have to get all of his old records review everything.. I was prepared to wait while my credit cards gained interest. Much to my astonishment my claim was paid today just one week later after the incident and probably 6 days after filing. I didn't have to fight with anyone they covered everything they said they would and the payment was in my bank account less than an hour after I chose my method of payment. I'm so very pleased but I'm a little scared because of all the bad reviews I've read. At this point though I can only recommend MetLife, they have done a really good job for us

The Worst Service I Have EVER RECEIVED - Total Waste of Time and $

I purchased MetLife Pet insurance for my 2 dogs in February. I pay about $200-ish monthly for the policies. My large dog had an acute injury by hurting her leg in the yard when sneaking out of my fence, ultimately tearing her CCL. For a month and a half they have refused to reimburse my claim. My vet recommended that I purchase a brace for $900 instead of opting for a $6,000 surgery. So I followed her instructions and purchased the custom brace for my dog's leg, then submitted the vet visit, vet recommendation letter and itemized receipt. I've spent 10+ hours on the phone with agents waiting forever, and calling my vet. MetLife at first denied the claim saying that CCL injuries are normal wear and tear on a dog with age. The Vet has proof this was an acute injury. MetLife called the vet one time to try to get proof. When they didn't get through after one attempt, they never tried calling again for weeks and nothing was done. Over a month later I'm still on the phone. I provided a second itemized receipt as requested as well. They still won't process my claim or call me back or respond to emails. I want to be reimbursed for my claim and for the money I have spent on the policies since February. I don't want to deal with MetLife anymore. The call agents at MetLife have been incredibly unhelpful. They refused to call claims to escalate the issue and said I had to wait another 5+ days for them to email her. I called this morning to talk to her...waited 40 minutes and they wouldn't pass me over to her. They said she was on a call, but then wouldn't allow me to wait for her to get off. She just didn't want to deal with an upset customer. I will NEVER purchase pet insurance from this company again. Screwed me out of $600 and won't reimburse my claims.

Absolutely terrible service

Absolutely terrible service! Do not expect to get reimbursed promptly. It takes well over 30 days to get reimbursed. You’ll often be asked for more information that IS attached to your claim yet they’ll say it’s missing. They’ll also close your claim automatically without notice or without any follow up as to what’s missing. It’s a constant back and forth with them. Just yesterday I spoke to someone on the phone who clearly articulated what my claim is missing. I submitted the information. Now today I received yet another email saying I’m still missing information. This whole process is beyond frustrating.
