If I could give this company 0 stars I…

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. This pet insurance has been horrible. I have 2 dogs and 1 cat. Suddenly my cat became very ill and rushed him to ER only to find out it was from a toxin. My cat began to have kidney failure and I tried to save him, and it costed me $1800, and I had to pull him down he was only 3 years old. I submitted my claim March 2024. The claim was denied once and I turned it back in because they tried to state he has preexisting so my vet attached a letter proofing this was an emergency appt., No preexisting conditions. I just called to check on my 2nd appeal and the MetLife rep. just told me they denied it again stating they want to know how the accident occurred when and where. This company is full of crap. Run don't walk. I have $1800 on my care credit which racks up fees very fast. I'm in the hole financially and I thought my claim would be resolved by now. They don't want to pay. Scammers! I would love to get another pet insurance; they are affordable for a reason because they will not pay out large claims!

Great Coverage

I love MetLife's Pet Insurance! They are always super helpful when I have questions or concerns about my policy. The app is pretty easy to navigate, and sumbitting claims on the app is pretty easy too!

Appeal for claim denial

On 07/13/2024, We took our cat to the vet for a regular health examination. Having had a previous cat who experienced serious health issues, she had a heart murmur and found out she was fip, we are particularly cautious about our current cat’s health and believe regular check-ups are essential. We went there for general visit not a previous illness etc. Following the visit, I submitted all required documents, including the vet's examination report, invoice in support of the claim. But I received notification that the claim had been denied. I have reviewed the documents and the policy terms, and I am unable to understand the reason for this denial.

Useless

Claims process is too much of a hassle. We provided the paperwork multiple times. They rejected claim for something unrelated to what was requested. My wife spent hours on the phone with them explaining the circumstance. Find another provider, they are simply not worth the effort or consideration.

Told Just Put the Cat Down

My cat Flynn was diagnosed with diabetes in June. I submitted my claim for reimbursement, along with the invoice, one year of medical records, a statement of events, and the SOAP. They put the claim on hold; they said they needed a copy of the declaration page from my previous pet insurance (Spot Pet Insurance) and sent the document as requested. Then I was told they needed the invoice for the claim, so I sent another copy. After that claim was put on hold again, now they wanted a copy of the "SOAP" that I had already sent, sent again. Now the claim was marked "Completed" and the claim "DENIED." So, I called again for the fifth time and got whoever answered the phone; you never get the same person. During the call, the representative tells me everything is fine; it was just a computer mix-up, and the claim is being approved for payment. I checked the MetLife Pet App; now it's on hold again. It did show at one point I was going to receive around $700 for the claim, but it should be around $1100 after the $200 deductible and the 80%. I just checked again, and now my reimbursement is $36. They won't call back when I've requested a manager or supervisor. I did talk to a supervisor on July 11, and she told me she would call me back on Monday, July 15 (no call). I wish I would have stayed with "Spot Pet Insurance." To close, I was told by one of the representatives that they understand my frustration, but have I considered putting the cat down?
