Your deductible is actually higher than stated
The main problem I had with this company is how they apply the deductible. They did try to deny coverage for part of the procedure, but relented on that. And the way they present the math in the "Your claim has been approved" emails is convoluted and confusing. That's because they don't want you to realize what they are actually doing.
Most insurance policies apply the deductible from the total amount paid by the claimant. Not MantPets. They subtract the claimants co-insurance from the total and THEN apply the deductible. So I my case I had a total bill of $1,081.63. With a $500 deductible the amount used to determine my reimbursement should be $581.63. But they take away the co-insurance first which is 1,081.63 x 80% = $864.50. Then they apply the deductible so the reimbursement amount becomes $364.50. It should be 581.63 x 80% = $465.30. In essence the deductible is really 20% more than the policy claims. If you look on the website they do show they pay the claim with the coinsurance deducted first. But you have to look for it. For any other insurance policy I've every has it is not figured like that and if you assume this insurance will be like all the rest you will be taken for extra money. Maybe this is legal, maybe it's not. It certainly is deceptive. Beware.
