Your deductible is higher than you agree to
When I was switching insurance companies, manypets had decent reviews and the price was right. To my surprise, when I filed my first claim, they agreed to all charges, but I didn’t get any money back from them, even though I went over my deductible ($580 on a $500 deductible).
That’s because, unlike in any other insurance, many pets takes a reimbursement percentage BEFORE your deductible is applied. So instead of getting reimbursed for what I paid over my deductible, they claim I haven’t surpassed my deductible yet. By their math, I actually have to pay $625 on my $500 deductible before they start reimbursement.
This is an insurance scam.
I have not had any claims so I can't speak about that, but the process of signing up including a couple of phone calls was very easy and the representatives were very helpful. The premium for the plan that I chose was much more reasonable compared to other similar plans. I purchased the injury/illness plan and plan to never need to use it, but if I do I hope the claims process will be just as easy and pleasant.
