Nightmare Filing First Claim

I filed my first claim for healthy paws pet insurance over a year after I enrolled my new dog. Throughout the entire time I have owned him, I have been diligent in submitting proof of soap notes from previous vet visits (one over a year before I submitted a claim and the other several months before). I also submitted proof of vaccinations as well as negative parasite tests. When Beau injured his leg and needed an xray, I filed my first claim. I was then told that there needed to be more documentation. I emailed back said documentation, but figured I should also call for good measure. The customer service department was unable to tell me what documents they had previously received. (I will note that any time I had submitted documentation I received an automated email). When I asked if I could speak to anyone who worked in the claims department I was told there was no phone number, and the only way to contact them was via email. When I asked for that email, I was given the general customer service email that can be found on the website… so not anyone linked to claims. All emails I have sent have only been answered with automated responses. When I went back and totaled up how much I had spent on this dog insurance service, I was dismayed to find that had I simply put the same amount of money to the side I would have been able to cover my dogs treatment. I think that this company goes out of their way to make contacting them difficult, and receiving information regarding you claim impossible. I hope someone reads this review and saves themselves the money or finds another honest insurance company that will actually cover new injuries.

Knee surgery reimbursement

We were pleasantly surprised at the timeliness and amount HP reimbursed us for our dog's knee surgery. We have a long road of recovery/rehabilitation and hope HP will keep helping ease that financial burden.

You never want to have to use this…

You never want to have to use this insurance, but it REALLY is one of the best plans when your pet needs care! There's no concern about the cost of vet care, you can focus on making the best medical decision for your little love bug! Our little big man Barney needed eye surgery to repair "cherry eye" and HealthyPaws was exceptionally prompt with reimbursement and expressed much care and concern for the well-being and recovery of our sweet boy! It just doesn't get any better than this!

easy claim, no max, no questions, and quick reimbursement

Healthy Paws asked for my pet’s history once and from then on, they reviewed my emergency vet bill claims within 1-6 days. It was easy to use their website or app on the phone or computer to submit bills and medical records. The state of the claim was clear, about how many days it takes and where in the process it is. I was so happy that no questions were asked since I had submitted all the docs, and whenever the claim was approved, the money was already in my checking account the next morning through direct deposit! What a relief with the giant emergency vet bills I had, knowing that I could take care of my pet with Healthy Paws’ reimbursement and ease of use. The only thing that could be improved is if there is wellness (not covered) and other items that are covered, it would be nice to itemize which parts are not covered instead of a generic statement that wellness is not covered. I am very happy with Healthy Paws and their no max annual or lifetime coverage. It has been worth every penny to have the assurance that my pet is covered.

Horrible experience on final claim…

Horrible experience on final claim after losing our dog to cancer. I have had this insurance for 10 years. Never had a claim until March 2025 when we found out our dog had cancer. I submitted 2 bigger claims, but under $500. Another for medications and a final for euthanasia which $150. Never in the previous larger 4 claims did they ever ask for a full 10 year medical record of our dog until the final claim. Seems if a full medical record was necessary it should have been required on first claim, not after losing our dog and on the final claim. This company is unethical and I cannot help but wonder if this about getting yet another payment while they jerk us around.
