This is the worst insurance company…

This is the worst insurance company ever. They consider an ear infection a preexisting condition. How is an infection preexisting? The people who work for them essentially just read a script. The phone system disconnects callers about 1/3 of the time and the other times the employee just hangs up if they don't know how to answer a question. I am cancelling this plan and going back to the insurance I had before. I have about 80 e -mails from this outfit all saying the same thing. "They want more info". Even when all records were sent 3 times but they continuously lost them. Oh, and then suddenly were able to find them in the fax que. Do not use this company. Go to almost any other provider.

TYPICAL POOR Insurance CO!

I have had HP for several years. All of our claims have been quite small - so they are quick. & days ago submitted 3 claims. $208, $5400, $268. So they applied the $208 to deductible. The $268 was missing a digit on the receipt. THey refused to process the $5400 claim until they had the CORRECT receipt number! They were not even related! Vet was out sick and I could't get a reprint for 2 weeks. So I asked for HP to close that claim and process the $5400 - nope refused to! TYPICAL INSURANCE COMPANY! Hang on to the funds as long as possible! But get your funds for premiums immediately! FIND ANOTHER COMPANY! NO LONGER A good insrance co!

Worst Experience I have ever had.

After over 5 months of providing claim information and follow ups with this outfit I can honestly say that this plan is terrible. They do not have internal operations to provide customer service. Their personnel are poorly trained if at all and they put any disease into a preexisting condition category. As an RN I am familiar with preexisting conditions. An ear ache is not something that can be preexisting since it can be a year or more between inflammatory outbreaks. Do NOT waste your money on this company. Put the premium dollar aside to pay for vet bills or go with another insurance. This one sucks eggs.

We’re sorry your customer service experience did not meet your expectations. Claim decisions are based on your pet’s medical records and the signs/symptoms that are noted in those records. Most pet insurance companies including Healthy Paws use a pet's medical records to determine if there are any pre-existing conditions that would keep us from approving a claim. We're never happy when we have to deny a claim. We do our best to be transparent throughout our website, during the enrollment process, and in the plan documents available to each client in their online Healthy Paws account regarding the limited exclusions of our plan. Those exclusions are pre-existing conditions, preventative/routine care, and the office visit fee. Anyone visiting our website can see this information under our "Frequently Asked Questions" and in the sample policy. Since the records received noted multiple ear infections starting prior to enrollment, we could not provide coverage.

Healthy Paws pet insurance is superlative!

Healthy Paws pet insurance is superlative. I have had a policy on both of my dogs as soon as I could get one when they were babies. Fast forward almost three years and Phoenix (large mixed breed) just needed major surgery. If not for Healthy Paws coverage he would have been unable to use his rear legs since the surgery itself cost more than I could afford. At first he had a partial crucial ligament tear in his rear left knee and was scheduled for surgery, but as he used his other rear right leg to support half of his body weight leading up to the surgery, he completely tore his rear right knee two days before the scheduled surgery on his rear left knee. As a result, the surgeon suggested it was best to operate on that completely torn rear right knee first. The TPLO surgery so far was a success and once this rear right knee has healed he will need another TPLO surgery for the rear left knee that was originally the only knee to need surgery. Within a week, I was reimbursed from Healthy Paws the 80% elected coverage from the surgery with ease. I cannot express how important it is to have a policy with Healthy Paws because like all insurance, you hope to never need to use it, but it is worth it when you need it. With the cost savings by Healthy Paws of this single surgical procedure thus far, my policy has paid for itself and will continue to do so. Thank you Healthy Paws for the benefits with the policy coverage. Hands down, I highly recommend your coverage to all pet owners.

VETERINARIAN: Spry Companions

So Glad I Got Pet Insurance

Healthy Paws insurance was a lifesaver when my pup ruptured her CCL Christmas Eve and needed surgery a week later. There was a bit of a hiccup getting the various computer systems at HP to accept and combine health records, which resulted in delay in processing the bill for the emergency room visit. However, once this was cleared up, the bill for the actual surgery was processed and money auto deposited within 48hours of submitting the claim. One other thing (clearly spelled out in the policy, but good to remember) is that this plan covers “treatment” (X-rays, surgery, medicine) but not fees for office visits or consultations. Explanation of benefits was very clear and customer service employees were very helpful. I took the dog to Spry Companions in Centennial CO, where both doctors have over 10 years experience with CCL surgery and it was a great experience.
