BUYER BEWARE

BUYER BEWARE! READ THE FINE PRINT! Healthy Paws will hide behind its policies to deny claims, no matter how unreasonable and despite letters from veterinarians to the contrary. But they are very happy to take your premium payments for many years. Shameful.

BUYER BEWARE

BUYER BEWARE! READ THE FINE PRINT! Healthy Paws will hide behind its policies to deny claims, no matter how unreasonable and despite letters from veterinarians to the contrary. But they are very happy to take your premium payments for many years. One short email from them requesting initial medical records as a gating item would have saved me thousands of dollars. Shameful.

We're sorry you were not satisfied with your plan. We do our best to be transparent throughout our website, during the enrollment process, and in the plan documents available to each client in their online Healthy Paws account regarding the limited exclusions of our plan. Those exclusions are pre-existing conditions, preventative/routine care, and the office visit fee (veterinary exam fee). Anyone visiting our website can see this information under our "Frequently Asked Questions" and in the sample plan. As per the plan we do require medical records for all enrolled pets to process claims, including a copy of the required enrollment examination. In situations where there is not a ton of medical history available, at minimum we require the notes from the enrollment exam as outlined in your plan documents to process claims. Based upon the medical records for your pet, we could not provide coverage for the claims in question due to it falling into one of the limited plan exclusions.

So Disappointed in this company. We thought they were great.

So Disappointed in this company. We had the insurance for both our dogs for at least 6 years. We were very happy with the coverage and I recommended the company to all of our friends as a great option to manage the cost of pets. They are sadly not the company I thought. We had a credit card issue which necessitated a change in credit card number to make a long story short, the autopay failed fell through the cracks for December and January. While they had our mailing address, and my phone number, they chose to quietly send a notification only to a very old email address (we've had coverage a long time), and then quickly cancel my policy. When I called to correct the issue ($50 overdue for a month) and reinstate my account, which we've paid religiously every month prior to this issue for 6+ years, they claim they can neither reinstate, or give me a new policy with the same rate. Probably surprising to nobody the new rate has more than DOUBLED. I will not be renewing with this company because this behavior is so greedy/scammy and a really crappy way to treat loyal customers.

They covered a surgery - no hassle

It's very easy to submit claims They review the claims in a few days When my dog needed $1,100 surgery, they covered $800 of it, which is more than my annual premium. So it's worked out really well

Prompt and fair with reimbursement

I was very pleased with both the promptness with which they paid out both my emergency veterinary claims for my dog, as well as with the actual amounts that they covered. This company covers what they say they will cover, no questions asked.

Monthly Cost

$15 – $90, depending on breed, zip code, age of pet and choice of deductible and co-pay.

Coverage

One plan covers accidents, illnesses, cancer, emergency care, genetic conditions, alternative care and more. You can choose a co-pay of 10%, 20%, 30% or 40%. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.

Payout Limits

No per incident, annual or lifetime pay-out limit.

Deductible

You can choose an annual deductible of $100, $250, $500 or $750* *Choice depends on age of the pet

Age Limits

Pets must be at least 8 weeks old and under 14 years old at time of enrollment. Once enrolled, pets can stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Coverage begins 15 days after your policy starts. There is a 12-month waiting period for hip dysplasia claims.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Hereditary and congenital conditions are covered, however hip dysplasia is only covered in pets who enroll before they are 6 years old.
