Created a TrustPilot account to share this year's premium increase. As a loyal customer since 2011, who has been dealing with the already massive price increases every year since 2020/21 but forced to deal with it, I can't anymore and am being forced to cancel. Sharing this for the greater good, and won't even share further details in hope the numbers you see below speaks for itself. Started around $34 in 2011. These numbers are for 2 small dogs, with the majority of the increase related to the old one). Policy Information • Protected Since: 06/08/2011 • Current Monthly Premium: $431.58 • New Monthly Premium Starting in 63 Days: $1,207.12 Healthy Paws- no need for your scripted reply.

I've used healthypaws for my dog

I've used healthypaws for my dog, Zeke, and for my last Dog, Donovan. Their rates are competitive, but that's not the only important thing. Sadly, I have had several claims with my dogs. healthypaws has the easiest and most efficient processing and user-friendly platform. I only wish the claims process was as easy when I have my own health issues.

Great claims service and processing

Shameful practices

Healthy paws has just increased my monthly premium from $250 to over $600 per month. This is outrageous and they appear to be blaming it on our state (California, the usual whipping boy for everyone). I have been a customer for many years with barely any claims. One of my dogs is older now and for almost the first time, I have made sizable claims so I’m pretty sure this is the real reason. But…..this is precisely why you pay into insurance from when they were puppies(in our case 8 weeks old) ….. so that all the years you pay premiums and claim nothing are at least partially offset by the claims you have to make when they age. I don’t know why they couldn’t make up the shortfall (if this story about what our state requires is true) on the back of new customers instead of shafting existing customers. Now I have to look for a new insurer for a dog with preexisting conditions. Shameful!

Healthy Paws Couldn’t Be Better

I’ve been a happy Healthy Paws client for more than a decade. They’ve covered multiple dogs with multiple issues, including major surgeries, all without any issues. Their claims process is amazing - I can submit a claim before I even get home from the vet and receive my reimbursement in just a few days. Their team is friendly and professional and they genuinely care about their clients and their pets. Cannot recommend them highly enough!

Monthly Cost

$15 – $80, depending on breed, zip code, age of pet and choice of deductible and co-pay.

Coverage

One plan covers accidents, illnesses, cancer, emergency care, genetic conditions, alternative care and more. You can choose a co-pay of 10%, 20%, 30% or 40%. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.

Payout Limits

No per incident, annual or lifetime pay-out limit.

Deductible

You can choose an annual deductible of $250, $500 or $750* *Choice depends on age of the pet

Age Limits

Pets must be at least 8 weeks old and under 14 years old at time of enrollment. Once enrolled, pets can stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Coverage begins 15 days after your policy starts. There is a 12-month waiting period for hip dysplasia claims.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Hereditary and congenital conditions are covered, however hip dysplasia is only covered in pets who enroll before they are 6 years old.
