Healthy Paws is great for me and Delilah!

My dog Delilah is my baby, and her happiness is really important to me. Healthy Paws has covered almost every issue, things that are common enough in dogs that I would have assumed they’d be on the “not covered” list: ear infections, broken teeth, bloodwork, nausea… Submitting a claim could not be easier, and reimbursements come quickly! I think I’ve submitted 5 or 6 claims this year alone, and I haven’t had to appeal a single one. My dog is happy, and so am I.

12 1/2 years of outstanding coverage.

We got Healthy Paws Insurance for our dog when she was a puppy. For the next 12.5 yrs of her life, she had multiple surgeries covered by insurance. No questions asked, easy claim submission and fast reimbursement. Having this insurance helped us make medical decisions to help our dog without the worry of how are we going to afford this. Here is what was covered over 12 years- As a puppy she licked something that caused an allergic reaction in her throat so she had to be hospitalized, had an endoscopy and medication to treat. She kept getting urinary tract infections. Insurance paid for tests and medications. Finally it was discovered her vulva was tilting in such a way, urine would pool causing infection . A vulvaplasty surgery fixed the problem. Her knee pain required TPLO surgery, the vet said most likely the other knee would need it too. It did, but then the 2nd knee got an infection and they had to take out the hardware. So, 3 knee surgeries within a 5 year period. At the end of my dear dog's life, she was treated for a massive tumor on her liver, which ended in her passing. Again, Healthy Paws paid per the contract and then took care of refunding my last month of prepaid premium and thoughtfully sent a very nice sympathy card. Thank you everyone at Healthy Paws for giving us peace of mind in providing care for my dog.

Used to be a great insurance, not anymore

I’ve been a customer for more than 7 years. They used to have the best premium and customer service. I understand the increase in premium( my dog is not getting any younger) , but they started to give me a hard time with claims. They refuse to cover medically nessesary tests even after I provide notes from the vet. If I submit a claim once a year, no matter what is in there, they refuse to cover because they look at it as a wellenes exam. They don't read any medical records. Also, their customer service went down dramatically. People answering the phone sound like they just woke up and can barely talk. There is no way to trarck the appeals other than call them, but the only thing that would tell you is just to wait for an email which is always a script. I am now looking for a different company for my dog’s insurance. Hope they will at least have a better customer service.
