We have had healthy paws insurance for…
We have had healthy paws insurance for 25 years of dogs (cats before that) -- that's 6 dogs (sometimes we had 2) -- who had 4 bouts of cancer, epilepsy, poisonous spider bites, 2 dogs had to have double TPLO's. Healthy Paws has been, and will be, our coverage choice. Folks you need to read the policy and decide if this coverage is right for you or not. They cover:
"With a Healthy Paws plan, you can be reimbursed up to 90% of your vet bills for these unexpected incidents. Coverage includes emergencies, hereditary or congenital conditions , cancer, and chronic conditions. Healthy Paws offers one simple plan that provides you and your pet with no caps on claim payouts."
As the policy holder YOU get to choose the level of coverage you want, and YOUR deductible. True, they don't cover the vet exam nor wellness visits. Some insurance does, but you as the consumer make that choice. Pick a policy that covers wellness, if you like.
As far as I know this is the only coverage that has NO annual or life time cap. To me this is what insurance is for -- the catastrophes that you can't, and didn't, plan for. This has worked for us. The wellness kinds of visit are part of owning a pet and need to be factored in when you consider if having a pet, which includes vaccines, food, wellness, etc. You can choose to modify the cost of coverage by adjusting your % coverage and your deductible. There are other plans out there that are more "wellness" oriented. There are cheaper policies out there who have annual and/or life time caps on pay out. HealthyPaws does not have either of these.
