Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

I signed my mixed breed dog up with Healthy Paws in May 2012 after doing a lot of research(he was ~6 months old). Little did I know when I signed up that he would have his first seizure 9 months later and be diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy. At first, I was very excited I had chosen Healthy Paws as they covered his blood tests, meds, and most of his ER visit. He has had a rough 7 months since his first seizure and I thought Healthy Paws actually cared about him. If you are a loving pet parent and have ever had to watch your dog have multiple seizures, you know how horrific it is.On the Healthy Paws website, they claim that the only thing they don't cover is pre-existing conditions. This is false. He is currently on an anti-convulsion medication that will likely shorten his lifespan and cause kidney/liver issues down the line since he had to start taking them at such a young age. I recently went to a licensed vet who practices holistically to try a new approach. She performed a consultation, which included acupuncture (which Healthy Paws did not cover even though they say they do) and was given a new medication that has effectively treated other dogs with epilepsy and enabled them to go off of their western meds, which have horrible side effects. Healthy Paws does not cover any of the holistic side of care, even though they make no such claims other then to not cover pre-existing conditions on their website. Lulu, my dog, was rescued 2 years ago. I researched, found and rerolled Lulu with HealthyPaws insurance on line as it attracted me with the co-founders' commitment to animals. Lulu has been healthy throughout, until 2 weeks ago. Lulu was sick with her stomach. I took he to our regular vet, Dr. Reed in Campbell, CA who is an attentive Vet. He did the necessary procedures and test for Lulu making sure that she did not have foreign objects in her tommy. Lulu recovered well in a week. I faxed the medical visit document to Healthy Paws which was processed immediately, with follow-up email inquiring about Lulu 's health development and status of arrival check. I was astonishing with their customer service staff taking each case in hand following up with the pet's condition which is un heard of in other even Vet's office. I have three dogs insured with Healthy Paws and have been consistently impressed at the thoroughness and promptness of response I have received each time I have submitted a claim. And the personal notes, inquiring about my pet's recovery are unusual and appreciated. I have tried other pet insurance, but switched to Healthy Paws and could not be happier. I recommend them to all my pet owning friends.

Im not really the type of person to review anything although I have a yelp account, amazon, nike, nordstroms and others but I would definitely recommend Healthy Paws insurance. Customer service is very easy and they always respond with a quickness. I've recommended Healthy Paws to several of my friends already.

I started with Healthy Paws after my 5 month old puppy swallowed a sock that got caught in his intestines. Since then we have had a few medical issues and Healthy Paws has been amazing. They have personal service and make it as easy as possible to focus on taking care of your pet while they work on your claim. They have a caring team who has checked up on my dogs progress often. Healthy Paws understand that your focus should be on getting your pet better. I tell all my pet loving friends that Healthy Paws is the way to go. I just received my reimbursement check for my first 2 claims and I couldn't believe how easy they made it.
