My Biewer Yorkshire Terrier, Margo turned a year old at the end of September 2014. She had been very healthy up until the past couple of months. After tests, x-rays and a CT scan, Margo was finally diagnosed as having an extrahepatic portosystemic liver shunt. This is an abnormal connection between the portal vein and systemic circulation. Her condition required extensive testing, surgery and several days of hospitalization totally close to $6000.
It is so rare to find a company that is as efficient and honest as Healthy Paws. I was able easily scan and upload ALL of Margo’s bills. I received an answer within 5 days and payment in less than 10 in all cases. Everything was covered exactly as promised.
I have made recommendations to friends, my vet and the hospital where Margo had her surgery. My husband and I are recently retired and it would have been quite a financial hardship to pay for the care and procedures that Margo required. We are so thankful that Healthy did exactly as promised.
I had an account with different pet insurance company for my older dog. This policy was more expensive and was supposed to cover certain preventative issues. While Ollie was never ill, everything we submitted was questioned. The amounts covered were not even close to the amount billed and the payment system was extremely slow. Our vet originally told us that she could not recommend any pet insurance company because so many clients had issues; however, she had never heard of Healthy Paws until I showed her our statements and the benefit contract. She now feels comfortable recommending Healthy Paws. I am so happy that I now have this insurance for both of my dogs! Margo’s illness was such a big shock but thanks to Healthy Paws, it will have a happy ending.

Healthy Paws is great coverage and service.
My eight-month old puppy developed a bad limp and was examined
by our regular vet. She needed special surgery for her leg and we
went to a wonderful Vet some 2 hours away. The surgeon was
wonderful and even more amazing was the service and coverage from
Healthy Paws Insurance. Healthy Paws covered 90% of the costs, the x-rays and
the surgery. We were so glad we had bought Pet insurance for the puppy (thinking she would not need it for years to come). Thank you, Healthy Paws and Dr. Cannon for making the experience a pleasant one for puppy and us.

Best decision I have EVER made
We signed up with Healthy Paws when our Newfoundland pup was about 5 months old. It was without a doubt the wisest financial decision I have ever made.
Unfortunately, we have relied on them heavily in her first couple of years. They have paid 90% of every claim we have submitted, including treatment for giardia, ear/eye infections, removal of a calcerous growth under her tongue, tick paralysis, and most recently, TWO KNEE SURGERIES, because she had torn both of her cruciate ligaments. On top of all that, they are even covering physical therapy to help her recover from the knee surgeries.
Here are some of the reasons I love dealing with Healthy Paws:
1.) When I call, a real person answers the phone - they understand my question and provide a clear answer. It’s not a “call center” experience; they actually care about animals, are very familiar with their policy, and are eager to help.
2.) The claim processing is VERY FAST and painless - usually less than a week between the time of treatment and when I receive the reimbursement check.
3.) They have never denied coverage. Their website is very straightforward, and they clearly lay out everything that they cover, including alternative treatment. Before we scheduled our dog's knee surgeries, I called HP a few times just to make sure they would actually cover both of them, since it sounded too good to be true. They promised they would, and they quickly came through for us.
4.) There is no incident limit, nor is there a lifetime limit. Some of these issues can add up extremely quickly, and it’s so reassuring to know that HP will be there for us.
The only thing I would do differently next time is get the insurance BEFORE bringing the animal home. We had an incident come up during the waiting period and they were not able to cover it, which was understandable.
I cannot say enough good things about Healthy Paws. Our dog is our child and we will do anything to help her live as well as possible . . . but without HP, we would not have been able to afford to fix her cruciate ligaments, and she would have had to live with pain and have extreme difficulty getting around for the rest of her life. We are, and will be, forever grateful to this wonderful company for helping us care for our sweet dog.

Peace of mind for seniors - pet parent and pet
I signed up for Healthy Paws when my dog was 12 hoping I would never need to use it. As a senior on a limited income, it was a big deal to add the expense of pet insurance but I considered it to be "peace of mind". About 6 months after I got the insurance, my dog got really sick unexpectedly. Without this insurance, I would have been in real trouble. The people at Healthy Paws processed my claims quickly and the checks arrived before my credit card bills did. The claims process was so easy I could just take a picture of the bill with my phone and send it. With the stress of having a very sick dog, having an easy claims process was a real bonus. I have recommended Healthy Paws to my friends and family and I will buy insurance from them much earlier some day when I have another pet. My dog is doing very well and I am sure he got the best possible care. Healthy Paws was a major factor in providing coverage for what he needed to get better. I am very grateful!!

Fabulous!!! A life saver!!!
I wanted to wait until we had Healthy Paws for a while before rating their service and I can honestly say they are fabulous! We got the policy at the same time we bought our vizsla puppy and we got him registered right away. Nothing could have been easier. It's a good thing we got the insurance too, because he had problems from the start. Puppy strangles twice, allergies and problems with his food. We have also been to the ER vet three times! Every single claim was handled super fast, I was reimbursed quickly and their service has been amazing. I cannot say enough great things about Healthy Paws!! It is SUCH a comfort to know that, when the worst happens, I'm covered.
