When I got my dog, I didn't think I needed medical insurance since she was only 12 weeks old. However, after listening to my friends about their vet bills I decided to check into getting medical insurance for my dog. After much research, I'd concluded that Healthy Paws was the best. They only take the deductible once a year, (like my medical insurance), where other insurances take a deductible with every bill submitted. Plus, Healthy Paws gave me a choice of how much % reimbursement I wanted.
I've had to use Healthy Paws twice now when my dog hurt her knee. As time when on, the pain became progressively worst, it was painful for her every time she wanted to play ball, run, and she was unable to go kayaking with me.
The vet started Bailey a less intrusive treatment with numerous Adequan shots and was put on Dasuquin tablets. The Adequan shots were about $90 each twice a week for 8 weeks. While getting the shots, Bailey was able to play like she always did, but it didn't last long. She started limping again and I could tell the pain was getting worst.
Finally, it was determined that surgery was the way to go since my dog is only 4 years old. She needed major surgery. A stainless steel plate was implanted on to her knee and thigh bone to stabilize the joints. Then she would need 6 - 8 weeks of physical therapy in addition to medication during her recovery.
The surgery cost over $5,000. If it weren't for Healthy Paws, I would have to take a loan out or set up a payment plan. But thanks to Healthy Paws I was reimbursed 90% within a couple of weeks and I was financially stressed free. As a result, I was able to concentrate on helping Bailey heal.
Thanks Healthy Paws you are the greatest!

quick and easy
This is my second time having to file a big claim for my poor pup and both times the experience was great. It was quick and easy to file my claim. I received follow up emails on the status of my claims and received my check within a week. I hope never to file another claim again, but having the insurance is worth it.

Most horrible customer service experience of my li
WHAT A FRAUD! We signed our rescue puppy up a few months after we got him, just in case, and are currently in the process of being scammed by this company. He was always our accident prone pup, with access to woods, so we wanted to make sure he was covered if anything ever happened. A few months before we even signed him up he had gotten in to something in the woods that made him very sick and had to be rushed to the emergency vet for fluids. Thus the reason for the insurance sign up in July. In early September or puppy wad diagnosed with epilepsy and I remember feeling this huge sense of relief having this insurance.....even lucky that we had signed him up and he was past the activation date before his diagnosis. The first claim I submitted was for his visit to the specialist which was denied because they do not cover office visits.....fine. The second, and last claim, I submitted was for his medication which I knew was supposed to be covered. Once this claim was submitted and I provided his medical records, they proceded to use any vet visit he ever had as evidence of his epilepsy, even the instance in which it is clearly noted by our vet that he got into something poisonous. When contacting the company all they had were drones answering the phones that just kept repeating "well, our policy..." but could not answer how he can have a pre existing condition when he wasn't diagnosed with any condition until September? Or why we would go through a rigorous and expensive testing if they already knew what it was? If the doctor didn't know what it was and had to refer us to a specialist, what makes the employees at healthy paws more qualified? The best part is that they denied refunding me in full because I had submitted claims....THAT WERE BOTH DENIED! If we weren't saddled with the cost of treating our epileptic dog, I would seriously consider seeking legal counsel to go over the policy and actions taken by healthy paws because there is something seriously wrong here and now that we have a diagnosis from the neurologist, he will never be eligible for insurance again. Thanks for screwing us in the short and long term healthy paws!

Great Insurance -- It just doesn't get any better!
We have our 3 dogs insured with Healthy Paws. Their service is absolutely FANTASTIC!! We have seen claims processed in 1 DAY!! They always follow up with an email a few days after the claim asking how our pets are doing. Anyone who has insurance with another company needs to check Healthy Paws out. You will save so much more on vet costs. They calculate the claim using the actual vet charge. Other insurance companies calculate the claim on what they think you should have been charged for the procedure. We are 101% SATISFIED!!!

This is a no brainer - get this insurance!
First of all, I never write reviews, but this company is so good, I had to. This is the best company around. Submitting a claim is incredibly easy - just upload the vet paperwork right on the website and about a week later you get a check in the mail. I've submitted 4 claims since I got the insurance, and every time the reimbursement has come through quick and easy, absolutely no problems. Get this insurance.
