A truly outstanding pet insurance company

Several years ago, I adopted a 6 mos old terrier mix. He decided he really enjoyed chewing my furniture, beds, cabinets, tables, chairs, etc. At that point I started investigating pet insurance as I was afraid he would need surgery for eating wood. Luckily, that never happened and luckily I chose Healthy Paws as the best possible insurance after a very thorough investigation of all other options. My little boy, Ollie, just had surgery for a patella luxation (dislocated knee cap). This has been a very stressful ordeal as he can't run, jump, take walks for 8 weeks. He's on meds to calm his energy level and just wants to be a dog again. With all of this stress, Healthy Paws has been more than outstanding. His surgery was approved for reimbursement immediately. It was also recommended that he get physical therapy. Healthy Paws approved that too! I only wish that Healthy Paws would insure me! They are absolutely the best in coverage, so easy to work with and claims are approved and paid within days. I have told all of my friends about them. Last year I adopted a little girl who is now approx 4. She also has Healthy Paws.

Healthy Paws to the Rescue!

Wow, where to begin. I adopted a Shepherd mix from SPOT Rescue. Josey was just a year old and was such a crazy active dog. I started to think about an insurance policy for her. Of all the dogs I've ever lived with over the last 50 years I just knew she was going to be the one to cost me money. I started talking to my fellow dog lovers about insurance. Everyone who had pet insurance said how crappy the companies were. No one was happy with their companies, everyone talked about claims being denied, reimbursements took forever to receive, etc. Everyone said it wasn't worth it. I did my research and decided Healthy Paws was by far and away the best on the market. I went with the 90% coverage, $500 deductible. Josey's monthly policy runs me just a little over $30. I can't stress enough how fortunate I was to choose Healthy Paws. Josey blew out her left knee chasing a rabbit not even five days after the required 15 day waiting period. She required a TPLO surgery, which is not cheap. I just knew they'd deny my claim, find some sort of reason not to cover it. Not only did they cover the cost of 90% of the surgery, they cut and sent me a reimbursement check in ten day's time. Here we are less than two years later and Josey blew out her other knee. She just had another TPLO surgery this last Thursday. I emailed the invoice to Healthy Paws Monday of this week. Today is only Wednesday and I just received an email from Healthy Paws. They told me my claim has been processed, and the check for 90% of the cost of surgery will be sent out shortly. Healthy Paws is an AMAZING company. They have GREAT customer service, offer many different options as far as monthly plans, and they make submitting plans effortless. They are as good as it gets!!

We're in good paws with Healthy Paws

We are so grateful for the good folks at Healthy Paws. Years ago, we contemplated pet insurance but the policies were so restrictive that it was not worth doing. We adopted a pup last year and she has been outrageously healthy. In one of those "I was supposed to see this" moments, I was reading the Boston Globe online and got a pop-up ad for a pet insurance company (not Healthy Paws). Just for the heck of it, I checked it out. Then I went to ConsumersAdvocate.com to see different plans side by side. Healthy Paws was ranked number one, and now I have first-hand knowledge of why. About a month ago, our healthy little dog became very ill with GI issues whose origin was quite murky, necessitating a lot of expensive visits to vets and culminating in an exploratory ultrasound. Fortunately, I had decided to enroll with Healthy Paws in August, so her condition was not deemed pre-existing. The policy is beautifully simple and flexible, allowing you to choose your annual deductible (bonus: it commences at your anniversary date, not calendar year) and your reimbursement percentage to arrive at the monthly premium. The only exclusions of note are that they don't cover the exam, nor do they cover routine office visits and procedures such as vaccinations. Their reasoning is valid and sensible--visit their website. The initial claim required submission of all records (thank goodness our dog is young!) along with the invoices. Our vets e-mailed invoices to us and we were able to submit multiple claims for the ongoing process online. Turnaround time for claims payment is super fast. We feel that we were, indeed, supposed to see that pop-up ad, because we ended up with Healthy Paws and our little girl is doing much, much better. This is a great company and they also have an animal adoption foundation. We are, indeed, in good paws with Healthy Paws!

Efficient Claims Service

We decided to get pet insurance when we adopted our puppy last year. After researching, Healthy Paws was the best option for us. I was hoping that we would never need to use it but..... our pug swallowed a paperclip (among other things) and needed surgery. We were very impressed with how efficient the process was regarding the claim and pleased with the coverage. I recommend Healthy Paws to everyone.

This is the One

With previous pets, I had used a different pet insurance company, one that had been around since the beginning of the idea of pet insurance companies. That company was ok, but there were some disappointments in terms of what I thought the coverage was, versus what it was in reality. It also usually took a couple of months to get reimbursed by them. So, when we got our new dog, Miranda, a husky from a rescue organization, I took my time thoroughly researching all of the pet insurance companies that now exist. There are quite a few of them now, so the research and comparisons I made took much longer than I expected. No matter which other company I examined, none of them appeared to match up to what Healthy Paws had to offer. I appreciated that there was a one-time annual deductible, instead of a deductible for each vet visit. I liked the range of options to select from, in terms of what percentage would be covered. It looked like the online submission process for turning in a claim was easy. I liked the background of the founders. I liked the fact that Healthy Paws had established a foundation to donate some of its proceeds to help animals in need. AND all of the reviews I read online -- mostly on Yelp, I think -- about Healthy Paws from current customers were outstanding. So, I made the choice to go with Healthy Paws, and am beyond satisfied. Filing a claim is so easy; you quickly get notification if they need any further documentation from your vet; you get a notice that your claim is being processed; you get a notice once they have processed your claim. It is so fast and efficient, and because of the notice system, you aren't left wondering what's happening with your claim. Six months after we got Miranda, she was diagnosed with a serious condition. For each treatment, we submitted claims and they were paid promptly. When your dog is undergoing treatment, the last thing you need to worry about is whether your insurance will cover the treatments and how long it will take to be reimbursed. These were never things we had to worry about. Healthy Paws even wrote to see how she was doing. Miranda is good as new, and we continue to be very pleased with the choice we made to go with Healthy Paws pet insurance. I would -- and I do - highly recommend this company as the choice for insuring your pet.
