Long Overdue Review(s)

I'm embarrassed how long it has taken for me to write this review but after submitting our 2nd large claim, I knew I had to finally do it. We've been a client since June 2013 after extensively comparing other insurance companies. In May 2014, our lab mix (7 at the time) needed a $3000 TTA knee surgery. Healthy Paws was great and was able to tell me prior to the surgery that this would be covered. Within a week of submitting my claim, we received our check and proved there were no hidden fees or excluded coverage. Funny story....about 2 months prior to our dog's knee surgery and our first claim, my husband wanted to cancel our pet insurance since he wanted to cut back on the budget. I talked him into keeping it for a little longer and we are both glad we did. He now recommends Healthy Paws to his friends. Fast forward to July 2015 and our dog had sudden neck/back pain and could barely move. I had a feeling we'd need to get X-rays and a possible MRI to diagnose the problem and was nervous about the cost but also hated seeing our dog in pain. I called Healthy Paws and they were quick to respond and confirmed that X-rays,MRI, surgery, etc would all be covered. We took our dog into the ER and then they sent him to a specialist for MRI. The bills for over $4600 were quickly reimbursed. To date, Healthy Paws has reimbursed us over $7600. Even with our $50/monthly coverage, we are net positive with our investment. My only regret is that we didn't get this earlier so our dog could qualify for the hip dysplasia coverage.

Incredible Company!

We had only paid two monthly premiums for Phoebe when she got sick. A puppy that is a chewer is not uncommon, but Phoebe got sick due to material in her intestines. Surgery took place immediately and her recovery was fast. Healthy Paws turned around our claims in less than two weeks. I highly recommend Healthy Paws, especially because their representatives were so helpful during the claims process.

Excellent Pet Insurance

My dog herniated a disc in his back. He was in a lot of pain and had motor weakness in his legs. He needed an MRI and surgery right away. I submitted my claim but taking a photo of my receipt with my iPhone and submitting it via Healthy Paws app. The claim was reviewed and I was reimbursed thousands of dollars within less than 2 weeks. I can't say how easy and fast it was working with Healthy Paws. I would definitely recommend them to anyone with a pet. You never know when you'll need it.

not satisfied

We paid our premium for one year before needing to file a claim. When we did file a claim after the first year, first: we mailed our claim form via regualar mail. I didn't hear back, and after 2 weeks I called them. They told me that by regular mail, they may not get my claim for 3 weeks and I should have faxed my claim. (the claim form did not state this). Meanwhile, since it had been a year, they raised our premium by $2.00 a month. We still didn't hear back about our claim and called them again - since we had moved to another county, they informed us that our rate had been raised another $2.00 a month. They also informed us that they have a 30-day period to receive claims and they still had not received my claim so we should re-submit it, which we did, by fax. Then we got an email stating they needed the vet's note from that visit so we faxed those to them. Then they still did not process our claim. Meanwhile we had 2 more vet visits that we filed claims for, by fax. They kept sending us emails saying they needed more information - we kept trying to comply, but they kept sending us emails saying the time had passed and we would need to re-submit our claims. We finally faxed everything we had in our possession about our dog and they still were not processing our 3 claims. We finally gave up and cancelled our insurance with them.

Really glad I bought this insurance!

When my cat Betty was 8 years old, she developed lung cancer. After $4000 in vet bills, she had to be euthanized anyway. So I learned my lesson and got insurance when I adopted two young cats. When my cat Dexter was 3 years old, he ate a long piece of cotton cording that got stuck in his small intestine. Two ultrasounds confirmed that he would need surgery to remove the cording. The total bill was $6100, of which I paid about $1500. $1500 is still a lot of money, but it's way better than $6100, which I would have paid to save Dexter, but I'm very glad I didn't have to.
