Happy Dog - Happy Pet Parents.
We adopted Charlie on Christmas Day after fostering him for a week. Being 3.5 years old we didn't know his history but knew he had been in and out of the shelter a few times over his life. I thought to get pet insurance because my girlfriends pitt had just cost her $3,000 in a tummy operation to remove a small dog sized tennis ball.
I narrowed it down to a few different companies but the app sold me with Healthy Paws. I literally just take a photo of the vet bill, they get ahold of the vet for more information (I had to do connect them the first time but now it seems to be all smoothed out), and they print the cheques and send them in the mail.
Downsides are they don't pay the vet fee, for us was $50 the first time and $29 for follow ups. But my coverage is 90 percent, with a $200 annual deductible and I only pay $31 a month. I'm lucky I got this because shortly after the 15 day waiting period Charlie started throwing up 3x a day. Turns out he ate a toy and what do you know, $4,000 later... Thankfully we get 90% back and we couldn't have afforded that without Healthy Paws!
