Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

Charlie (almost 10 now) is pretty darn healthy, but I did significant research a few years ago to get a policy in place for 'emergencies' and other events that might arise as he got older. (No one ever wants to have to use insurance though!) Of course his pre-existing skin allergies and bad knees were excluded, but I knew that going in. I have had to submit claims for a torn toe nail (requiring sedation and surgical removal of the toenail) and a badly torn ear (dog fight) and Healthy Paws was awesome! No questions. Prompt (within days!) payment. Now he is exhibiting signs of heart valve issues (murmurs) and Healthy Paws is covering his echocardiograms. Can't recommending enough getting insurance in place, but more than that, having Healthy Paws be the company providing the insurance. They make it so easy... and really care about your pets as well!

So we've had Mr Pickles since 4 months old, and we took out pet insurance with Healthy Paws straight after getting our little guy. Less than 2 weeks after the waiting period finished Pickles was having surgery to remove things he shouldn't have swallowed (rocks, sticks, ribbon etc). You not only care about my pet, they reduced my stress by making financing major procedures quick and easy. My dogs knee surgery was very stressful, but was much easier with Healthy Paws covering the primary costs. They always evaluate claims within 2 business days and send a check immediately. We never expected to need it, but when our 4-month old puppy golden retriever suffered a fractured leg and needed expensive surgery, HP rescued us from a very expensive bill. No hassles, no questions, no hesitation, just unequivocal support and first class service with a smile. On the few occasions we've called and spoken to a representative, they have been knowledgable, patient, courteous and compassionate. My 5 month old puppy got pnuemonia and was hosiptialized for 3 days and has needed weeks of antibiotics and multiple follow up x rays. Healthy Paws processed my claim quickly and easily so I could go back to taking care of my girl. Some of my family said that insuring a brand new puppy was a bit overboard but without healthy paws I'd be out thousands of dollars and counting.
