BOAS Surgery for 1 yo Frenchie
Our 1yo French Bulldog required a major airway surgery due to his BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome). This operation entails a Soft Palate Resection, widening of his nares, a tonsillectomy and removal of his saccules and we also decided to neuter him at the same time so that he can avoid another round of anesthesia.
The operation was very stressful for us as a family - mainly because we were worried about the outcome and the recovery of such a major surgery but also due to the cost of the operation itself.
Because the operation is so invasive, he required an overnight stay for monitoring along with medication to follow during his recovery. The estimate of the surgery was between $6700 to $7600.
Due to the tremendous impact that this surgery would have on his quality of life, we decided to move forward with the surgery and we are happy to report that he is healing very well and is a totally different dog who can actually breathe now! (It ended up costing just under $7100)
The plus was that Healthy Paws was there to help us with the cost of the surgery and we were reimbursed the promised 70% of our coverage!
We are over the moon with the result of his surgery as well as Healthy Paw's insurance coverage. What a relief all the way around!
We recommend HealthyPaws to all of our friends with pets!
