SO glad I have my Healthy Paws policy!
Healthy Paws kept my mind at ease while dealing with my dog's critical and unexpected health issues. It was distressing enough when I discovered my five year old lab had two bum knees and would need two expensive surgeries as well as months of recovery and rehab to get her back to her old self, but during pre-op when she was discovered to have a critical auto-immune disease I was in tears at the very real possibility of losing her. My Healthy Paws insurance policy allowed me to focus on providing the best care for my fur baby instead of having to make difficult and heart-wrenching decisions based on finances. Thanks to Healthy Paws and a team of amazing veterinarians and their staff, my dog is alive and on her way to good health again today. If that's not reason enough to convince you to get a Healthy Paws policy, here are my observations in my extensive claims submittals over the last several months:
- Their rates are competitive. In getting quotes from some of the best rated pet insurance companies, I found the best bang for your buck in terms of coverage vs premium rates from Healthy Paws.
- No pre-approvals are needed for claims. Initially this worried me to get no paperwork in advance that explicitly said how much would be covered, but the claims adjusters are familiar enough with common injuries and diseases to explain what will be covered if you're willing to make a phone call. And, anyhow, in times of emergency, the last thing you want is a to need a pre-approval.
- A SURPRISING number of my dog's expenses were covered, including mobility harnesses and slings needed to carry her post-surgery and massages to help ease her pain, most of which required only invoices and no medical notes or disputes from her veterinarian.
And if that's still not enough to convince you, here are some numbers:
- I currently pay <$40/monthly in premiums for a $250 deductible plan with 80% coverage
- This year so far (with only one surgery down), I've paid ~$3200 out of pocket while Healthy Paws paid ~$9500.
Granted, with all of her ongoing issues, I fully expect these rates to increase, but that's just how insurance works and for now have no regrets about my Healthy Paws policy except that I didn't opt for higher coverage.
