I love Healthy Paws! My Golden Retriever puppy, Hudson, is almost 8 months old and has gone through it all in the past couple weeks. Before I got my puppy, I was thinking I would get it when he was closer to 4 years old since Golden's have a lot of issues as they get older and the Golden I got was VERY well bred so I figured since he had good genes/DNA, that I wouldn't have many issues with him... but boy am I glad that I got Healthy Paws when he was a puppy. If I had waited, then I would have a lot less money in my bank account right now, because you never know what is going to happen with your pup.
The first two claims I submitted to Healthy Paws I had back within 2-12 hours. With the last one two, it took a couple days (they were much larger than my first two). For the last one, it was a LARGE bill ($6,000+ for an emergency surgery, which was inconclusive so an extended hospital stay with MANY, MANY tests done), so I gave them a call after 48 hours to see when they were going to get to it. They told me that if I ever have another large claim, to call them immediately after submitting it and they can push it to the top of the pile for review so I get it back sooner. I thought that was great to hear. While I was on the phone, they made sure to ask how my Hudson was doing and I even got a follow up email a few days later checking on him. So not only do they provide a great service, but they care. So far, they've covered everything I would have expected them to. I'm VERY happy I went with Healthy Paws and not one of the competitors!
Healthy Paws took the financial concern away from the decisions to do what was right for my pup (not like I would have chosen otherwise anyways, but still… you get my point)! My ultimate vet bill for my vet and the hospital was over $6,600 and I’m coming out paying less than $1,750! That means that my pet insurance just paid for itself for the next 6 years. Totally worth it in my book.
When deciding on Healthy Paws, I was unsure since they didn't cover the exam and the preventive care, but because of that, you're paying less per month than you would have with another company and they're GREAT about covering everything else.
I think my main takeaways are: 1. get pet insurance and 2. get it ASAP, don't wait because you assume that your well bred dog isn't going to have any issues until he's older.

They're The Best!
Hobbes's TPLO surgery went well and he is progressing nicely. He is a healthy, active sweetheart of a pup who is missing chasing the birds and squirrels out of his fenced kingdom (backyard) 😊, but he is being a good boy and a real trooper with the cone and confinement.
I can't thank the whole Healthy Paws team enough for answering all my questions...thank you, Amanda! Everyone was so helpful and I felt like they truly cared about my dog and what we were going through. Especially thanks for covering the surgery expenses! Quite frankly, it would have been a financial hardship for me to come up with the money to pay for his surgery. I'm not sure he would have had the surgery otherwise if Healthy Paws didn't cover his expenses. The Healthy Paws app made it super easy to file the claim and it was processed and reimbursed very quickly. My overall rating for Healthy Paws Insurance... 10+!

Money well spent
When my wife and I got our dog Tyson she asked me about getting pet health insurance, I initially thought the idea of this was a bit silly never having made such decisions before. But I was ok with it, sure why not? She did some research and decided on a company called Healthy Paws because of their reviews and the fact that they don't have injury limits as many others do. We picked our deductible and the percentage we wanted reimbursed and signed up, easy and done. The app is easy to use, which is how you file a claim, simply use the app to take a photo of the invoice you have from your vet and submit. Within a week you'll receive a response and reimbursement if your deductible has been met. You'll need all medical records the first time only. Now about our personal experience. My boy Tyson tore the ACL in his right knee, because of his size (145 lbs) TPLO surgery is the only option. This procedure is about $4500, shocking to say the least. We had the operations done and I was sure we would play hell getting the reimbursement, so sure in fact I went over Tysons policy a few times looking for any loop holes they may try and jump through. We submitted the claim via the iPhone app and two weeks later we had the reimbursement check in the mailbox. No phone calls, no emails, no games...I was shocked, I wish my personal insurance was this good! So, I'm now thinking what gives? A company that dose what they say, I'm very untrusting you could say. Tysons policy was due to renew shortly after the 90 day recovery period, I was certain his premium was going to go through the roof, or at least double. It didn't go up a penny, not one cent. By now I'm sure you think this review is fake, or I'm paid to write this, I can guarantee both are not true. I just want to tell people about our experience, I'll never have a pet without insurance again in my life. Four months after he recovered he tore the ACL in the other knee (common if they've torn one to tear the other at some point). Another $4500, another claim, and another reimbursement without hesitation, games, or questions. Without healthy paws we would be close to $10,000 in debt. Because of healthy paws Tyson received the best care possible from a very experienced surgeon, twice. I highly recommend healthy paws whenever I get the chance. John

Healthy Paws keeps us happy!
Healthy Paws has delivered as promised from the first day of coverage. They are there for the little issues, and provide the same coverage without hesitation for large issues, like surgery. We've been Healthy Paws customers for over 4 years and will continue to recommend them to any pet lover. We recently had to have a major, unexpected surgery on our dog, and Healthy Paws covered it to the fullest allowable, and even followed up with a warm email to check on her, separate from the emails regarding the insurance claim. Nice touches like that keep customers happy, especially during a time of recovery - aka getting a 24/7 death stare from your pet because they hate life in the dreaded cone!

Healthy Paws Pet Insurance is the best!
We were very pleased with Healthy Paws Pet Insurance on our recent claim with them. In February we adopted two female pups, mixed breed sisters, at 3 months old and with high medical costs from previous dogs we owned, we decided to get insurance for them. The claim we had came about a month and a half after getting the insurance policy when one of the sisters tore up a corner of her kennel pad and ate a piece of foam and it lodged in the bottom end of her stomach. Since it was to large to pass thru into the intestines it caused a dire situation which required surgery to remove the foam. After two days at the hospital we got Darby back home. I compiled the required forms that is requested per the contract with Healthy Paws and sent them by mail. We received their check, less the contract deductible and 20%, within 10 days. It was an expensive accident and would have been more of a hardship on a retiree pension without this great insurance company coverage.
