Health Paws Pet Insurance is the Best!

My 2 year old dog has been suffering with liquid filling into his lung cavities for about a year. He recently need expensive surgery and Health Paws made it affordable for my wife and me. They make it very easy to submit bills through their phone app and are always quick to pay claims. My wife and I are very grateful to Health Paws because they are not putting us through the "run around" that so many other insurance companies put you through. We can just focus on taking care of our dog and do not have to stress about paying for his vet bills. They even sent us a very nice note showing concern for our dog's condition. If you have a pet, I highly recommend that you get insurance though Healthy Paws Pet Insurance as it is best company to work with to cover your pet and they are always kind and caring every time I speak with them.

Not worth it

My dog was vomiting, so I took him into the vet. My veterinary office charges an emergency fee for emergency cases, even those seen during regular business hours. Healthy Paws refused this emergency fee, despite the website saying they cover emergency care and the exclusions not mentioning emergency fees. The customer service manager was dismissive, and kept calling my male dog "she". I don't feel like they care about myself or my dog, and I am canceling my policy. It isn't worth the monthly payments if they won't cover the bill when the time comes. I'm extremely disappointed.

Life Saver (literally)

In a Nutshell: PROS Policy - The policy on their website is perfectly clear to me. I think that some of the problems with pet insurance are caused by a lack of transparency and vague wording. The policy is straight-forward and not like the tedious "Terms of Use" stuff that you get whenever you try to use an app on your phone. Monthly Cost - You can get a free quote on their website so that you know what to expect up front. I've had Healthy Paws for 2 years and I haven't noticed any significant changes to my dog's premiums. Reimbursement - Annual Deductible (how much you spend in 12 months before insurance starts reimbursing you). This is much better than a Claim Deductible (you have to pay a certain amount for each individual vet visit to get a certain amount reimbursed). The FAQs give clear examples of how the reimbursement is calculated. It's fair and I've never had a disagreement about it. Enrollment - Easy. No blood draws or x-rays required for approval. I didn't even have all my pets' medical records because the animal shelter didn't have them. There were years missing from their medical record as a result, but I was still approved! It's great that this system doesn't discourage or punish you for adopting an adult. It's hard enough finding a home as it is. Customer Service - Excellent customer service. I can't recommend them enough and I've always been able to get a quick email response or a person on the phone. I've put more detail and examples in my essay below. CONS (this will be short): - Mobile app is glitchy, but I've never had problems submitting claims through email or the website. - Pre-existing conditions are not covered. This seems like a standard condition across the board for pet insurance, so I don't think that this is something that can be changed. I will explain my experience with the enrollment process, customer service, reimbursement, etc. towards the end. But first, I want to provide some context. In September 2016, our dog Iris was diagnosed with lymphoma, one of the most common cancers in dogs. While Iris never made it to remission, we can have some peace of mind that we were able to give her the best fighting chance that medicine could give. Through four months of blood tests and chemotherapy, we had racked up $8,500 and Healthy Paws covered $6,000. While the out-of-pocket costs are still very high, Healthy Paws took care of 75% of the medical costs and lifted a huge burden off our shoulders

Excellent Service!!

We are thrilled with our Healthy Paws experience! They have been prompt, caring and compassionate! We chose them because they didn't have annual or lifetime caps, but they have exceeded our expectations in other ways as well - even follow-up emails after surgery to see how our dog was feeling! We really felt like they were a partner in our time of need!
