Loopholes in Coverage

Apologies for the lengthy post, just want to make sure that I am documenting adequately: I have been with Healthy Paws since early 2013 for my first dog and have since added another dog to my policy. The dogs are still young, quite healthy, and have only been covered by Healthy Paws for the most routine and run-of-the-mill problems. I could afford deductibles and cover preventative care, including regular teeth cleanings at a low-cost clinic without problem. As such, I remained faithful in Healthy Paws's services to think I could afford caring for a cat, and I adopted a young sweet rescue in January of 2017, signing him up for insurance shortly thereafter. In late April of 2017, my cat Baxter (just celebrating his one year birthday) was diagnosed with a rare auto-immune disorder, juvenile-onset gingivostomatitis, which means his gums are allergic to what is otherwise ordinary plaque build-up on his teeth. This results in painful sores as well as inflammation throughout the body and other general symptoms like fatigue and low appetite. The doctor informed me that it was 'going to be a long road to treatment,' and despite the devastating news, I was confident that at least my sweet pet's costs would be covered. In early May I saw a dental specialist to discuss forms of treatment--there are usually two approaches, the first for extreme cases and the second for cases caught early: 1) full dental extractions to remove the source of allergic reaction (plaque) or 2) partial extractions, paired with home care (daily brushing, oral rinses, and water additives) AND regular (as in, every 3 months) professional dental cleanings. Having discussed Baxter's options, the specialist advised beginning with the less aggressive option. Young cats, especially, have been known to make a full recovery if owners are diligent with their treatments. Before agreeing to the second option, which will involve more costs but could potentially save his teeth and lead to a longer and better quality of life, I called Healthy Paws to double-check that Baxter would be covered and was assured that he would be. Because the roots of the condition are not well known, I also contacted my rescue to see if they had any information about Baxter's early life that could be illuminating and was told that his brother was just diagnosed with the same disease and that it was likely a mix of environmental and hereditary factors because they were both rescued under-nourished and in a squalid, hording

Comfort for my "Murphy".

Recently my precious little dog became very sick for a prolonged period, and it also became a financial burden. I was comforted to know that I had Healthy Paws Pet Insurance. They came through for me, and it helped greatly with the pressure and stress that comes with a hefty vet bill. During the process of submitting my invoices, Healthy Paws even sent kind messages asking how he was doing. It was a great comfort for both me and Murphy at at difficult time.

Health Paws Pet Insur - Consumer Endorsement

I just wanted to publically thank Healthy Paws Pet Insurance for performing above an beyond the call of duty, in processing my claim for our Golden Retriever (Newman). He was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor. They processed the claim w/in 3 business days, and thru their direct deposit, I received my reimbursement immediately. Health related issues are bad enough, so the last thing on your mind that you want to deal with is the administrative part. I've been a Healthy Paws policy owner since 2013. I had a few issues along the way...like our dog swallowing an entire baseball hide whole. In each and every claim, Healthy Paws has stepped up to the plate. It's been well worth the investment, and I would urge anyone and everyone to check them out and take out a policy with them. You can customize your policy to your economic level and you won't be sorry. Good luck.

Healthy Paws Rocks!!!

As cat parents, my husband and I learned the hard way how costly excellent cat healthcare can be. Our first fur babies were both rescued as adult cats and did not have insurance. We realized the importance of getting pet insurance too late; thousands of dollars later. When we adopted our triplets from the shelter (we had only planned on getting two, but there they were, three beauties waiting for a home) we learned from our previous experiences and immediately began researching for insurance. We knew that we needed to get insurance while they were still young because some insurance companies place age restrictions and other limiting parameters on purchasing insurance. Healthy Paws is the most comprehensive and affordable choice. They have the fewest restrictions and are very easy to work with. Our most adventurous baby, Laila, has unfortunately had two major medical issues in her first two years of life. She has had two surgeries, three hospitalizations, and many follow-up visits. Her care was covered 90% by Healthy Paws. The claims were easily submitted by the vet office staff with just a signature on the claim form. The reimbursement check came quickly and we always received a follow-up email for a wellness check. The overall genuine care and concern for our babies is obvious. Thank you Healthy Paws for giving us the opportunity to give our babies the best healthcare possible and the best opportunity for a long and happy life.
