HEALTHY PAWS- THE BEST!!!

Healthy Paws is AWESOME! I would give them more stars if I could. My 5 year old goldendoodle went septic (later to find out he INHALED a grass seed that burrowed in his lungs, causing penumonia, fluid around lungs that had turned to pus).. He was so sick he spent 6 nights in the ICU hospital for pets, had 24/7 care, emergency surgery, chest tubes to drain, feeding tube and they removed 1/3 of his lung where the grass seed was infecting the area. Needless to say we left with a $19,500 bill. Over $20k with meds, followup chest xrays later that week. Thank God we had pet insurance! Healthy Paws paid 90% of the entire bill. We received $18,600 within 2 weeks of the entire incident. I haven't even received money from our family's medical insurance that fast. I have told anyone and everyone about 'our' story. They allowed Jack to have the absolute best medical care. Without it, at some point, we would have had to make some really tough decisions. But because of it, we were able to say 'do whatever it takes to give him the best opportunity to live!'. As long as he kept fighting we did too. I am so happy to report 3 weeks later (today) and Jack is HAPPY AND HEALTHY and back to 100%!!!! Lucky us.

TERRIBLE

THIS PET INSURANCE SAID THEY SENT ME AN EMAIL SAYING THEY COULDNT BILL MY CARD. INSTEAD THEY CANCELLED MY INSURANCE. SO I HAD NO COVERAGE. YOU WOULD THINK IF THEY WANTED THEIR MONEY THEY WOULD CALL OR SEND A LETTER IN THE MAIL. MY EMAIL IS NOT ALWAYS THE BEST WAY OF CONTACT. VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. BEWARE THIS IS HOW THEY GET MORE MONEY TO START A NEW POLICY.

We understand that there are times a policyholder's credit card used on the policy could be lost, compromised by fraud or that there may be a change in bank accounts, expiration date, etc. When an account goes into suspension due to the fact that we are unable to bill the card on file, we make every effort to keep policyholders up to date and informed about the status of their account. Multiple notices are sent via email, and a Notice of (upcoming) Cancellation is sent out via regular post as well. There is also an automatic grace period that is taken into account. However, if we do not hear back from the primary account holder (prior to the cancellation effective date) the account must be canceled. In order to be equitable to all enrolled pet parents, we cannot make any exceptions to this policy. We're sorry to lose you as a policyholder and hope you and your pets stay well.

Needs work

This company is really great - at avoiding paying for claims by wearing you down until you finally give up. Trying to explain to a brick wall how the word “urine” on a claim does not mean it is related to a history of urinary tract health has been among the most painful experiences of my life, and my cat is still very, very sick. Not, however, due to a pre-existing condition. But yeah, sure, let me do all the leg work to prove it is unrelated, since you can’t read and have no idea how labs work. Convenient for a (pet) health insurance company. A quick rundown - both humans and pets have a couple of commonly tested fluids, specifically blood, saliva, and urine. Urinalysis is not only completed to evaluate urinary tract health. I really just want to shout “DUH” at the morons processing these claims, and even more at the people writing their guidelines and training them. I pay money to this company with the idea that it will REDUCE stress in the event of horrible illness or accident for one of my pets, but time and again it only INCREASES the stress. I have paid far more in premiums than I will ever get back, which is obviously their goal, but the years they have taken off my life are more than they are allowed to collect. You can’t be there for your pet if the insurance company drives you off a cliff. Don’t do it. As you can see from the response, they do respond when you complain enough. The submission of claims on the website says you can attach additional information if you like, but how many of us are provided with the vet’s chart notes at a visit? Perhaps they could ask for that before just denying a claim? The system is flawed. Easier to blame the policyholder.

The BEST a pet insurance in the world

The BEST a pet insurance in the world. I mean it. I wish my health insurance was as good and well run as Healthy paws and I have Blueshield PPO. We submit a claim by uploading our documents, a decision is made in few days and we get our check in the mail in less than 10 days. I highly recommend Healthy Paws. This is the first time I signed up for pet insurance and I am shocked at how professional and great Healthy paws is. With a small premium monthly, you can insure fantastic coverage for your pet and you can visit any vet you wish. It is not like human insurance. There is no network to choose. You choose what is best for your pet. It is unfortunate how many pets end up in shelter as their human can not afford care. Please sign up with Healthy paws. Our labradoodle has had 2 knee surgery (TPLO) and we are grateful to healthy paws. The coverage and support was amazing and we went to the Ortho of our choice.

Great Experience During a Difficult Time

We had quite the whirlwind of a week with our 4-year-old French Bulldog. She had some respiratory issues early on and then some gastro issues later, which required surgery and various procedures. Could not be happier with Healthy Paws; they have been great and made a very difficult situation a little bit easier to manage. Customer service, the ease of the claims process, and continued follow ups on our pet's well-being are above and beyond what we would have expected when we first got pet insurance. Have and will continue to recommend to others.
