I am so impressed with the speed and…

I am so impressed with the speed and efficiency of Healthy Paws. My 1.5 year old shepherd was attacked by another dog and was rushed to an emergency vet. She was in ICU for 3 days so you can imagine the vet bill! Having such a young dog, I never expected having such medical emergencies at this stage of her life. But Healthy Paws couldn't have been easier to deal with. Easy claims submissions. No weird exclusions or reasons not to reimburse. I was able to focus on my girl's recovery and comfort. Thank you Healthy Paws!

VETERINARIAN: Coastal holistic/Sage clinic

Emergency gallbladder rupture

It was a whirlwind day regular vet to 24 hour clinic for abdominal ultrasound, bloodwork then told to rush to another emergency clinic when ultrasound revealed ruptured gallbladder surgery was needed ASAP!, after hearing the quote for the surgery and if she makes it through will be several days hospital stay. After freaking out my husband says we have pet insurance oh yeah right! Thank god. Just the surgery and hospital stay was $11,000. Plus the lead up cost to get her to that point. After each vet and clinic we sent in the invoices and they were approved quickly and we started to get reimbursement checks the following week after her surgery! Anyone he tells me they are getting a puppy or a dog/cat I tell them to get pet insurance immediately. You just never know. I got her insurance when she was 12 weeks old, never used it till she was 4 then Boom! IMHA 3 blood transfusions, 9 days hospital! Healthy paws came thru and now this gallbladder rupture! Don’t be the person standing at the reception desk when your animal is sick having to make a life or death decision for your pet! You can say no problem I have pet insurance to back me up!

Fine until your dog needs service

Great plan when you have a young healthy pet that doesn’t need meds, etc but when you start submitting claims, they will double and even triple your premiums. Beware.

Jessica - We appreciate your being part of the Healthy Paws family and are glad we have been able to provide coverage for all of your claims during that time. We realize no one likes any form of premium increase. As our customer care team member covered in your call, premiums are calculated on a state-by-state basis in accordance with filings that have been approved by state insurance regulators. Your premium amount increase is influenced by two primary factors, the increased age of your pet, and the cost of veterinary care services reflected in the claims paid in your specific state. All pet insurance companies, no matter how they market their benefits, will raise rates to keep up with the rapidly rising cost of veterinary care, including specialty and emergency care. We do our best to be transparent regarding annual premium increases by including this information on the "Frequently Asked Questions" page of our website. The Healthy Paws Team

Excellent Experience

It's my belief that the people who tend to write reviews are the ones who are upset, who have an axe to grind (how often do you write a review because you're so darn satisfied!!). So I want to share my experience with Healthy Paws pet insurance. I've had Healthy Paws for my golden retriever since 2019. We purchased the policy when she was 1 year old, so prior to any pre-existing conditions. She had an unexpected dental issue with what was basically the dog version of ingrown "wisdom" teeth in 2020. While the policy does normally cover most dental issues, we were pleasantly surprised when we submitted a claim for her issue for ~$3500 and it was reimbursed, with an explanation why - in this case - although it was dental it was covered under the policy (we did not expect that). Fast forward to 2023. We live in the SF Bay area, so an expensive place to live - including vet care. Accordingly our policy goes up a decent amount every year (we are at ~110/month right now). In October, our dog develop dilated cardiomyopathy. We're probably $5000-6000 in vet bills in the last 60 days and Healthy Paws has reimbursed us for every bill we've submitted. Not only that, the submission process is incredibly easy and they typically direct deposit the funds into my bank account within 48 hours. I sincerely wish we were the customers who paid for nothing more than peace of mind, because our dog never got sick. Unfortunately, we're the customers who get to be thankful we purchased and maintained pet insurance for our pup who ended up with a chronic and expensive health condition. Our experience with Healthy Paws has been nothing short of wonderful and has made this very difficult time a little easier.

Makes critical decisions about your pet easier.

We have been members of Healthy Paws for years now. Unfortunately Sophie has needed surgeries we did not anticipate when we bought her. We are both senior citizens and would have done whatever was necessary to get her the best care. Good medical care for your fur family member is expensive. Healthy Paws has always come thru for us and enabled us to provide Sophie with the care she needed and making the financial decisions easier. Within a week we received the direct deposit from them. We highly recommend everyone insure their pet(s) with this wonderful company with exceptional customer service.
