Not sure it's worth it

I got pet insurance for both my dogs after one was diagnosed with bone cancer. I did not expect Figo to cover the cancer costs as it was a part of a pre-existing condition. This same dog happened to fall and pull a muscle in a different leg unrelated to the cancer so I filed that claim. But let me tell you, the wait time to process claim is ridiculous. They keep saying that their are hiring more people because the claims are taking 6-8 weeks to process once submitted. Read the fine print, they would not cover my dog's euthanasia because he died of the cancer. Then charged me for his insurance the month after the claim was submitted which included the cancellation of the policy. When I called they said I needed to send a separate email to cancel the policy, then it would take more than a week to return my money. It's bad enough that I have that we have the grief of losing our 2 year old dog, but come to find out they covered $25 of the expenses. Ridiculous!!! Buyer Beware.

It has been over a month an a half from …

It has been over a month an a half from when I filed a claim and still have no resolution. Contacted Figo TWICE now and they keep saying to give it a couple more weeks. We are also in a process of buying a house and we have that urgency to get all the claims cleared out. It seems like FIGO does not care about their customers and give the same excuse about being understaffed. We have multiple open claims due to my dog undergo surgery and yet no resolve. I do not recommend this insurance to anyone. Should have gone with another pet insurance. THIS is getting to be ridiculous. What is the point of having pet insurance if we can not have a peace of mind. I am in the process of attempting to contact a third time to FIGO. -___-

Growing pains, but a good company

I thought I'd give a short review of Figo after filing my first claim, since most of the reviewers have only reviewed based on speaking with the agents. I am overall very satisfied with the reasonable price for the benefits, the online portal, ease of filing a claim, and knowledge of the agents. But holy cow, it took almost two months for my claim to go through. I filed a very small claim for two of my dogs on December 11, and only yesterday, February 7, was it approved. They did send an auto-generated email saying that claims were delayed. The good news is that it was approved the first time with no back and forth, no documents needed, or anything like that. The only thing that wasn't approved was a $17 medication that was over the counter (given to me by my vet), but no worries. Overall, mostly satisfied with the benefits for the cost. For a new company that's rapidly growing, some hiccups are expected. I wish they were staffed 24 hours though, like many other companies - it does take a couple days to get an email reply, and long hold times on the phone. However, I have six dogs, and this was the lowest cost for the best coverage that I could find. The most important part to me is that they cover what they say they're going to cover, and they did - even if it took a while. They've supposedly hired more people and brought claims in house beginning this month, which will allow them to be processed faster. Overall, I would recommend this company for the price and coverage - just be aware that there are growing pains.

WATCH OUT FOR HUGE INCREASES - 77.4% in one year!!!

I thought they were great, but have only been covered one year, then BOOM, without warning, they INCREASED my rate by 77.4%!!! Annual premium went from $630.32 to $1118.50!!!! I called to ask if this was a mistake - i was told it is due to age increase of pet and veterinary cost increases......my dog only aged from 1 to 2 years old (not like he turned geriatric at 2) and, i don't know about you, but I haven't been charged almost double this year than last year by my vet for wellness visits.....? Could this be because the they applied my cat's surgery to my dogs plan and then upped the rate for their mis-assigned claim?? or is this case of "bait and switch"....give a good rate the first year then BOOM huge increases thereafter??? not a happy camper today seeing a 77.4% increase in my next year premium. After "canned" response below - customer care did reach out -- and told me for a 50% increase in annual cost, i could have a policy that reimbursed 90% instead of 100% and for a 30% increase in annual premium i could have a policy that reimburses 80% verses 100%. uh, yeah... one year of good rates then raise the annual premium by almost double --or offer reduced coverage so you can keep payments lower...ugh!
