FIGO all the way!!!!

I don’t know where to start. We adopted a 4 year old English Bulldog earlier in the year. The poor dog was living in a van, rescued by a local bulldog group and shuffled between foster homes all his life until we found each other. From past pet ownership history I told myself years ago that if I ever get another pet I will have pet insurance on him/her. After 2 days of research and comparison to other pet insurance companies I decided to go with Figo... honestly, never thinking that I would need it. I chose a premium policy with a $500 deductible and 100% reimbursement and no annual claim cap at $62/month. Now the health problems began to arise...Less than 4 months after adopting Tobi he began to walk with instability and seemed to fall over when trying to lay down. Noticeably after that he began losing the use of his back legs and then shortly after that his front legs began to give out. In less than a weeks time he was not able to stand up by himself or stand up without assistance at all. I took him to our long-time family vet and upon review it seemed that his condition was severe, and the treatment that he required was beyond their scope of service so I was referred to a local animal hospital ( an animal hospital, not just a Vets office). Long story short.... after X-rays, MRI’s and a spinal tap my poor boy had lesions on his brain and on his spinal cord at the C-1 & 2 vertebrae. His condition worsened and the neurologist made one last attempt to treat him with a chemotherapy drug. The treatment worked and Tobi was released from the hospital after a long weeks stay. The final bill was over $12,000 dollars!!! I filed the claim, which is such an easy process with Figo and submitted all the requested paperwork. Here I am thinking that I’ve paid less than $200 in total insurance premiums and am now asking for a $12k reimbursement. There was no argument, no nit-picking or any challenge to my claim. It was paid in a timely manner based on my policy coverage and terms. ( I really thought that my wife was going to have to sell a kidney to pay off the bill but thankfully that didn’t happen. J/K ) I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Figo based on the following: -Customer service -Policy types and flexibility -Competitive rates -Easy of claim filing -Overall satisfaction. My boy is 100% back to health and we are both as happy as we can be together.

Actual scam!

Actual scam, heartless, fraudulent company! Buyer beware ! If you look at all these recent review giving them five stars all reviewers have 1 review only. It is very obvious that they are doing some kind of promotion with new customers in a bid to change consumers negative views about them, but DO NOT BELIVE IT! Soon these reviewers will see and be sickened like I am. I have trusted and loved this insurance company for far too long only to be treated in return with yearly price increases, decreases in coverage, and denials in coverage at every turn! Their new revised policies description of a “pre existing condition” very literally states “A condition may be considered Pre-existing: whether or not it was specifically diagnosed by a veterinarian, whether or not it was treated by a veterinarian, is in remission at the time of application, is seasonal in nature even if in remission at the time of application, is currently or previously being controlled by medication(s) ect” it goes on an on. I challenge you to find something they could not find a loop hole for to make it pre existing when their new policy actually states it can be considered pre existing whether or not it was diagnosed or treated by your veterinarian. Are you joking me? My dogs were both rescue animals age 2 and 1 when they started on insurance so they already had some previous vet history. This is not a good thing when this company is looking to connect dots that don’t even exist to make everything pre existing, and no amount of Dr’s notes or info will change their minds. Also, it is ridiculous to say you are “transparent” with your price increases and subsequent coverage decreases by sending you email saying “theese are your renewal options” and if you don’t like it, well, too bad. They could care less and don’t let them make you think any different. I have a two year and four year old dog and pay over $140 per month. I can’t imagine how much this would be costing me if my dogs were seniors. Also, your options are basically to either renew with them or just hope your dog doesn’t get ill, because now everything your dog has ever had or is ever even mentioned in the doctors personal notes ( insurance will get them, believe me) is a “pre existing condition”. They know they have you over a barrel and this is why they are getting away with these price Increases. I have filed a review with the better business bureau and will file an actual claim for mitigation if necessary, since they can’t seem to find any reason to pay their part for my dogs necessary surgery, only every fraudulent reason they won’t. SICKENING!
