Another review for a scam of insurance

Fetch replied to a previous review of mine and claimed that my dog had a preexisting condition that was before his wait period but the visit they claim he “showed signs” on. That submitted visit was actually for just a checkup and had nothing to do with his allergies or anything. Simply they gave him apoquel just as a preventative because he gets allergies and itchy ears. Nothing to do with his paws which is what he was seen for on the visit that I ACTUALLY submitted for. So fetch clearly will do anything to NOT pay or help out when they claim to “care” about your furbaby. This pet insurance is a SCAM just like any other insurance. EDIT to reply: you need to stop lying to people by saying you care about animals when you wouldn’t have stipulations such as a “preexisting condition” that was not even the case. Also what I’m gathering is that you all wouldn’t consider it preexisting had I cropped the previous visit out? Y’all are trash.

Fetch is a scam

Fetch is a scam. They continued to charge us after we cancelled. We cancelled because the rate skyrocketed to over $2500 and the policy pays a maximum of $400 per illness. So it would be impossible to recover the premium unless my pet had 7 unrelated illnesses in one year. Absurd. We changed our credit card number to stop them from continuing to charge us and they somehow found the new number and kept charging us. We disputed the charges with our credit card company and they didn’t challenge our dispute until two years later, when they suddenly charged us for three years’ worth of insurance premiums totaling over $8k. The company changed hands (from petplan to fetch) and they claim not to have saved the recorded call during which I cancelled in 2020. So the credit card company took their side (they did not give us written confirmation of the cancellation-it was only on the call which I did not record myself) and in 2022 they made us pay $5000 for policies that were supposedly in effect for 2020 and 2021. You have 90 days to submit a claim, so there’s no way we could have derived a single penny’s worth of benefit from those premiums. Pure scam. Yes, I spoke with customer service. In answer to my question about why I would get charged $8000 in a single year to insure one cat, the rep said, “If we are able to charge you, we will.” I think that pretty much sums up the company.

Fetch Has Been A Lifesaver

Fetch, has always been easy to work with and makes it easier to take care of my son and his health issues. Thank God for the insurance coverage, since he has a condition that requires vet visits and medications. Without the insurance I couldn't afford to keep him in my life and without him I wouldn't want to be here either.

I haven't had a bad experience with…

I haven't had a bad experience with them at all. They keep me updated on my claims. I have never had to worry about what is happening.

Self acclaimed pet insurance critic

I am a die hard fan of another company that unfortunately wouldn’t quote my girl due to her birth defects. I’ve also had a horrendous experience with a different company. I am very grateful Fetch gave us the opportunity to insure her. I have had a good experience overall, save two factors. The turnaround time is a little longer than I’m used to and if you file a claim, you can no longer change coverage. At the time, our income was more limited and I chose a higher deductible and 80% reimbursement. We filed one claim and due to an improvement in our financial situation, I wanted to raise the reimbursement percentage and lower the deductible, understanding the premium would increase. Because I had filed one claim, I can no longer change coverage.

Monthly Cost

Plans average $35/month for dogs and $25 /month for cats

Coverage

You choose a reimbursement level of 70%, 80% or 90% after your deductible.

Payout Limits

Annual limit of $5,000, $10,000 or unlimited depending on your chosen plan.

Deductible

$250, $300 and $500

Age Limits

Fetch doesn’t enforce upper age limits, so you can enroll your pet any time after it turns six weeks old. Some providers limit coverage for older pets to accident-only. Fetch doesn’t limit coverage by age so that you can get the right care for your buddy, no matter what.

Waiting Period

Fetch’s waiting periods are up to 15 days for accidents and illnesses and six months for orthopedic events.

Exclusions

Fetch won’t cover pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures, boarding costs, breeding costs, wellness care items, or accidents and illnesses that occur during waiting periods.
