Do not switch to Fetch if you're already insured.
Considering pet insurance? Do NOT sign with
FetchByTheDodo. After adopting a cat from
Oregon Humane Society in June, we were incentivized to set up Fetch plans for all of our cats, who were then insured by a pricier company. So we did. Weeks later, our entire household was infected by a parasite that the poor cat brought home. Thankfully he's better now, but our other cats aren't.
Fetch has denied every claim related to this parasite by labeling the infections as "pre existing." We're lucky to have never needed to use our past pet insurance. The last time any of our cats needed a vet visit was 2018. No conditions or illnesses, as documented by our previous insurer. Fetch is able to justify denial because we don't have recent vet records. We did not know that any illness we unwittingly brought home with our new cat would not be covered. We should not have been advised to switch over without also having been communicated the risks. And because we switched, our previous insurer has told us they may not "take us back." There isn't much we can do at this point aside from being vocal about our experience with Fetch and to encourage others not to sign on. This is not a superior pet insurance provider. Don't let The Dodo's animal-obsessed image or their reasonable prices fool you.
