Fetch makes it very difficult to cancel a policy. It is impossible to cancel online and nearly impossible to reach them by phone during their business hours. So in lieu of being able to cancel easily online, I deleted my credit card information so that they would have to cancel my policy when my payment failed.
I received no less than eight notices that my payment had failed and my policy would be canceled. This is what I wanted, so I did not respond to these notices, trusting that my policy would indeed be canceled.
Imagine my shock when I opened my credit card statement and discovered they are STILL BILLING ME despite having sent me EIGHT notices that my policy would be canceled, two months after I DELETED MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION. It appears they have gone through their records, found my previously saved credit card information, and used it to continue billing me after I explicitly withdrew my consent to use said credit card information.
I came to Trustpilot immediately after filing a formal complaint with the California Department of Insurance. After the Thanksgiving holiday, I will call my credit card issuer and dispute the fraudulent transactions, and I will supplement my Department of Insurance report with a fraud report to the California Attorney General's office.
If you are in the same situation, please report the fraud to the Department of Insurance in your state. This is absolutely illegal and I will get my money back even if I have to pay the Small Claims filing fee and sue them myself to do it. I was obviously unhappy with Fetch already, hence the desire to cancel, and using my credit card information without my consent after I expressly deleted it is the absolute last straw.
