Excellent service and very friendly!

This was my first experience buying pet insurance although I have owned many dogs in the past. I must confess I was a bit sceptical to start with, did a lot of research on the internet, reviewed and compared numerous insurance quotes for coverage, narrowed down my list to 3 recommended insurers and then I spoke to an agent at each of the 3 companies. I had a lot of questions and wanted to ensure I was comparing apples to apples and getting the right coverage for my pure bred 2 year old lab. While all the agents were helpful, I must say Carla Stevens of Fetch was excellent, very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. She patiently answered all of my numerous questions, was very knowledgeable not only about Fetch’s coverage but the other competitors, help me pick a coverage plan that was fairly comprehensive ($20k annual, 90% reimbursement and $300 deductible) and reasonably priced (if there is such a thing for pet insurance), was conscientious of my specific insurance needs (need coverage both in Canada and the US) and didn't try to up sell me on something I likely didn't need or use and seemed to genuinely care about my coverage concerns and my lab in general (even wanted pictures of my lab). While this is my first venture into the pet insurance world and time will be the test as to how things eventually will work out, I must say my first experience and initial impression with Fetch was extremely favourable. Thanks to Carla Stevens and Fetch. Very much appreciated.

They ghosted me

I was so happy with Fetch and the quick response regarding my claims. Some of them were approved and some of them not, fair enough. The only claim that I’m not happy with the follow up and response was for a neuter surgery. I’m fully aware that the insurance doesn’t cover that if I want to fix my dog just because. In my case, my dog has been struggling with some issues where he has been bleeding and the vet mentioned that could be a problem with the prostate and the solution would be neuter surgery. Why wouldn’t the insurance cover that when it’s a surgery to fix a current health issue? Since I tried to appeal their decision, I’ve been ghosted. I want a reasonable explanation and I stopped receiving answers. From being an insurance company that I fully recommended all the time, not I’m doubtful of that.

Claim processing

I submitted a claim for my dog and they had approved my claim within 7 days. Very impressed with their service.

Monthly Cost

Plans average $35/month for dogs and $25 /month for cats

Coverage

You choose a reimbursement level of 70%, 80% or 90% after your deductible.

Payout Limits

Annual limit of $5,000, $10,000 or unlimited depending on your chosen plan.

Deductible

$250, $300 and $500

Age Limits

Fetch doesn’t enforce upper age limits, so you can enroll your pet any time after it turns six weeks old. Some providers limit coverage for older pets to accident-only. Fetch doesn’t limit coverage by age so that you can get the right care for your buddy, no matter what.

Waiting Period

Fetch’s waiting periods are up to 15 days for accidents and illnesses and six months for orthopedic events.

Exclusions

Fetch won’t cover pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures, boarding costs, breeding costs, wellness care items, or accidents and illnesses that occur during waiting periods.
