Unlike human health insurance companies (oh, how I wish!), Embrace offers attentive, prompt, friendly, and thorough service. However, I do wish there wasn't such a small cap on the Wellness coverage. We got our Cavalier puppy when she was 5 months old, so after 1 vet checkup as our pet, with a few necessary shots and a heartworm medicine purchase (which I haven't yet submitted as of this writing), there isn't much left in the kitty, so to speak. And she'll need a Lyme booster next week, and will be spayed next month. So we'll really be out of pocket this year and our coverage just started! Therefore, while I would recommend Embrace highly for their excellent customer service, as the owner of a puppy, who because of her age (or youth) requires additional basic wellness care (shots, spaying) than an older dog might, The $149 Wellness coverage that reimburses up to a maximum of $200 a year, is not that much of a bargain.
Perhaps Embrace might consider adding a "puppy plan" that dog owners can tailor to their needs. :)-

They missed this one
I have to start out by saying that I have had absolutely nothing but the best to say about Embrace Pet Insurance....except this time they missed this one. It took a long time for them to process and after a couple of inquiries they processed the claim (it was a small claim, though, so nothing real upsetting). It was also one of 3 claims submitted and the other two claims were promptly handled. Initially, I wasn't going to write anything, but then decided it was better to give the most honest reviews.

Great customer service
This is my first experience with Pet Insurance, and so far, I'm very pleased. They don't have the integrated website features that other companies have, but this is more than made up for with the very responsive customer service. Claims are processed fairly and in a very timely manner. I recommend Embrace to anyone looking for a pet insurance company. Unfortunately Embrace isn't licensed by the state of California, and I had to sign a waiver acknowledging this. But I feel comfortable that Embrace is a solid company, and not very concerned about that. The Wellness plan is a good idea if you plan on spending over $200 a year (including any medications). You end up saving $50 there automatically, plus you can get up to 20% off your plan with a) a 5% promotion code, b) paying premium in full (5%), c) your pet is neutered or fixed (5%), d) your pet is microchipped (5%). It's also an Ohio-based company, and people in the midwest are usually very courteous and pleasant to deal with.

Premium almost doubled
Last year, my 2-yr-old Chihuahua was treated for an insect bite at a vet and I filed a claim. In their defense, the claim process was smooth.
When the renewal notice came recently, the premium had practically doubled. They cited several reasons such as inflation(huh? I thought what we experienced over the last year was closer to deflation and inflation), claim patterns, etc. I am so switching back to another company we used to have.

Claim comments
All transactions with Embrace personnel have been pleasant. They notify each step of the way. As for claims, over the last 2 yrs. I've had to send claims back for review a couple of times. Also in checking around similarly priced plans/benefits, I notice that most other insurers have $8000-$9000 yearly maximum while Embrace is $5000, I wasn't happy about that.
