Great benefit plans, even better customer service
We had previously been using Pets Best for our cat 3-year-old Evie. I chose it based on price and the fairly good reviews it received on here. They seemed better than what I had heard about with the big name ones, like VPI, but Pets Best's deductible structure sucked. It was a per-incident deductible (like car insurance), so the reimbursement was rarely worth it (unless you jacked up your premium to lower your deductible). Ex: We had a biopsy done that cost $600. After the deductible and 20% copay, I got back roughly $300, which was a little less than what I paid annually in premiums. If it were an annual deductible, I wouldn't mind eating that because I'd be set for the rest of the year. But I felt like I was pouring money into a hole and was intent on finding a pet insurance plan with an 80/20 reimbursement, annual deductible and decent customer service. I thought there couldn't possibly be a provider that met these requirements (they're all in this to make money and this is a bit of a boutique industry, right? why would they structure it actually pay out generously on claims??) until I read the reviews on here and looked more into Embrace.
It's all true - they're awesome. The annual deductible makes a big, big difference. I just met mine after a blood test and exam, so it's a huge relief to know that if anything else comes up that requires a trip to the vet (or the ER), I've paid my fair share into the system and will be compensated appropriately. No starting over from
