“Real” Insurance for your Pet!

A few years back, one of my dogs was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. Thankfully, we were able to operate and remove the tumor from Buster’s ribcage (a very unusual place for OS to occur), follow up with chemotherapy and buy him more time – so far, four more years! At that time, I hadn’t given much thought to pet insurance, but I wish I had. We racked up bills to the tune of $8,000 (but he’s so worth it!). Now that I have five dogs, I decided it might be a good idea to look into insurance for my pooches. After doing a good deal of research, I decided to go with Embrace. I was able to customize the policies for my dogs, which I loved. I didn’t have to fit my needs into a cookie-cutter plan. I got to choose what made sense for me – deductible, prescription coverage, co-pay, etc., and most importantly, the plans are affordable. Buster and two of the others are too old to insure (all are 13), but my two younger dogs (6 and 1) now have policies. I recently got to test the mettle of one policy when my girl Charlie had gastritis. Charlie ended up having to stay overnight at the vet’s for a few days. She needed multiple x-rays, an ultrasound, blood tests, IV fluids, etc., and round-the-clock care. When she finally came home, she had two prescriptions plus a 10-day prescription diet. The bill – just over $1800. I didn’t have high hopes as far as what insurance would cover (having had an AWFUL experience with ASPCA insurance), but my Charlie was worth it. My vet’s office submitte

So understanding and sympathetic

We have used Embrace for several years and now have our third dog enrolled. Our first dog Tater, a sweet and big hearted chocolate lab, recently passed away at the age of 2. In the short time of 2 weeks he succumbed to a rare auto-immune disease which no medicines helped. Before that he spent 6 months of his short life in a kennel recovering from elbow dysplasia operations. We were blessed that for a year prior to his death enjoyed the life of a bird dog, hunting and hiking. We would have never been able to see him run in the fields and swim in the lakes if it was not for Embrace. They helped us through both ordeals and never once indicated any concern about the procedures. We received written condolences on our loss and they reimbursed all his vet bills. They are very caring about our pets. I can only say, any reviews from dissatisfied customers are most likely because those individuals were trying to receive coverage after the fact, when they did not deserve it, or they did not follow the simple directions for the submittal form. We will continue to use Embrace and we hope we our other dogs never experience the pain and suffering Tater went through. He was a saint and never complained. We will miss him greatly.

Pleasantly Surprised!

I Submitted two claims at the same time to be handled. I was impressed that I was notified that they received the claims from the vet and they would let me know within a certain time frame what amount would be covered. In less then 10 days I got an e-mail telling me that my dogs medication would be totally covered. I was very excited. A few days later I received my check. I am still waiting to hear about claim #2.This one is for extensive Dental surgery. I have no doubt it will be handled in a fair time frame. I am so happy that I chose this company and I have already told friends and family how impressed I am with Embrace.

Love the Wellness Plan

I recommend the Wellness Plan, especially for puppies. Unlike other insurers that only pay a portion of puppy type procedures (neutering, micro-chipping, vaccinations, heartworm plus heartworm pills), Embrace pays the total amount. You will receive a discount if you pay for a year up front, making your cost for $400 worth of coverage about $300. Add up all the puppy type expenses and you will probably spend the entire $400. Use the $100 you saved to help pay for the sickness and accident portion of the premium. Embrace will automatically apply 5% discounts to the sickness and accident premium for both neuter/spay procedures and micro-chipping, once the procedures are done.

Update!

I thought I would update since we have been with Embrace for the a year and a half now and have had a chance to actually utilize Embrace's insurance claim services. Customer Service is always accessible and responsive to inquiries. They will send you a notification upon receipt of claims and give you an estimate of how long it will take to process. And claims are paid very timely. The option to have it directly deposited into your bank acct is wonderful. Luckily, our Newf has been very healthy so we had only had sickness/incident file claims a few times. We have the additional Wellness Add On Benefit. Just her yearly checkup and heartworm preventative always exceeds the yearly premium paid out, and we always see full return on it -- so it is definitely a plus to have the additional coverage. I'd definitely recommend Embrace to anyone looking for health insurance coverage for their furbabies.
