They Did the Right Thing

Bohdi broke two teeth in September and the extraction and medical procedure was more then $500. When our vet did the procedure they also cleaned his teeth. The initial response from Embrace basically said they could not cover the cleaning and anesthesia because it was not part of and "accident". I spoke with them and they asked for a letter of support from our vet. They wrote explaining that the cleaning was an important part of the procedure for the broken teeth. Embrace reconsidered and payed a significant portion of the bill. I understand their original position and think it was really very good of them to reconsider based on more information.

first claims in 4+ years

After filing claims I thought the processing time was a bit long. Computer upgrade was the cause? but once fixed, claims were processed and checks mailed with follow up to see delivery time. Service and coverage after initial glitch has been excellent.

Responsive and comprehensive coverage.

We have submiotted several reviews in the past, but am writing yet another one because continued to be so impressed with Embrace. We have had Embrace Insurance on our Great Danes (three at one period)since 2009. Embrace coverage is very comprehensive; we have had several expensive procedures for which they reimbursed a sgnificant fraction. Even our vet was impressed on one occasion (MRI). Embrace is also very communicative; they usually send an email to let us know they received a claim, usually a status email, and a follow up to confirm we received payment. Renewal is very easy. Again, they will usually check ahead of the renewal date to see if we want to use the same payment method. Whenever I email a qustion, I usually get an almost immediate answer unless it is outside working hours.

Peace of mind

The pet insurance price tag is small relative to what it buys...PEACE OF MIND! Can never emphasize that enough!A friend of mine once said, "you don't buy insurance on your house hoping it would burn down! You buy insurance hoping it is there if/when you need it!" Same thing here. The other BIG plus with Embrace (for me, at least) is that their reimbursement is bill based and not rate based. In other words, they pay a percentage of your bill (after your deductible is met), as opposed to some companies that set artificial thresh holds on "events/procedures" and then, to add insult to injury (pun intended), only paying a percentage of that. It didn't take me long to figure out that their thresh holds were way below what any Vet would charge.

Monthly Cost

$13 – $100, depending on your chosen plan.

You have a co-pay of 10%, 20% or 30% after your deductible, depending on your chosen plan. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.

Pet must be at least 6 weeks old to enroll. New pets over 14 are eligible for accident-only coverage. Once enrolled, pets can stay insured regardless of age.

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Hereditary and congenital conditions are covered if they have not been diagnosed or suspected before the policy becomes active. Main plan covers alternative treatments such as chiropractic, acupuncture and homeopathic when provided by a licensed veterinarian.
