Huge Letdown in Service
If you don’t have prior 2 years of vet paperwork don’t bother; they won’t take your claims. There’s also a waiting period, and anything pre-existing is not covered. You are better off taking the money you would potentially give them and putting it into a savings account.
I had originally signed up because my pet Oreo needed to go to the vet and I wanted to be able to cover what I thought would be a big vet bill as her leg was bothering her but then read the fine print and realized I couldn’t take her because it would be considered a “pre-existing condition” and even if I wanted to take her it would be a 15 day waiting period. Additionally, I had taken my cat Muffin for his annual checkup and tried to use the claims to get some money back as he had preventive care, but found out once I submitted the claim they couldn’t finish it without 2 years of vet paperwork prior (to prove an eye infection wasn’t previously existing, lol). I reached out to the company and got no response from the claims team, so I cancelled my coverage. The company should realize not everyone can afford to take their cat to their vet without insurance and should remove the restriction on not being able to resolve a claim unless you have prior vet paperwork and should make it clearer what you are signing up for when you sign up for their service. I will never use ASPCA again, and they have changed my views on pet insurance forever.
